Over the last 2 years, I traveled to Freiburg on a monthly basis for business (sadly that project has ended). I have stayed at the Novotel and the Mercure Muenster. The Mercure is the one I will always go back to. The rooms are moderately sized, with a desk, sofa (some rooms), bed and bathroom. The bathrooms are large and have always been kept clean during my stays. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly, always greeting you with a 'Hello' and a smile. The parking costs are a little high, as is the cost of wireless internet service in your room and also the breakfasts. But I do have to say even with the higher cost of these items, they are still less expensive than the same items at the Novotel. The housekeeping staff always did a wonderful job also. As in all of the other reviews, the Mercure is right on the edge of the city center, which makes walking to all of the shopping areas and restaurants very easy. I am planning a 10 day vacation to Germany in July 2012 and the Mercure will be where we will be staying at the beginning and the end of our trip. I can't wait to visit my '2nd home' again!

OK hotel without too many memorable features other than its excellent location and generally helpful staff. Rooms a bit tight, size-wise, and a little tired, but they work. Car park in basement BUT height limitation of around 2.1m so roofboxes are out, we made alternative arrangements purely on spec at a nearby hotel (Stad) with outdoor parking at 10 Euros a day. Easy stroll to Muenster and the main shopping strip, supermarket nearby in basement of a department store, decent restaurants within striking distance. Mountain train up the Schlossberg was quite fun, if rather pricey . . . .

We stayed in a family room (2 daughters, aged 11 & 9) with a double bed and 2 single beds. Very quiet and comfortable room and large bathroom. Breakfast was fantastic and very traditional German fare: eggs, sausages, muesli, yogurts,etc. This is our 3rd time staying in this hotel and won't be our last!
