“Lovely hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

Very nice hotel we really loved it. We booked 2 rooms, 1suite and 1 room for 2 people. The suite is just enormous, probably close to 55 m2 for a very reasonable price (we paid 200 euros). The double room we booked, while obviously smaller was very nice too and pretty large.

Everything in the room is pretty new and well decorated. In both room, we had a kitchen which is a feature quite rare in hotel and we really appreciated that as we had a small kid with us.

The view is just amazing on the main Baden Baden street but no noise at all in the room. Bed is quite comfortable and noise isolation is also perfect.

Wireless free of charge is present but does not work great unfortunaly due to a too weak signal but is is ok if you just want to check your email

In both rooms, you have a nice kitchen. The location is fantastic just a few hundred meters from the thermal bath and right in the center. Breakfast is ok, not fantastic but ok and is included in the room charge.

So overall, I strongly recommend to stay in this hotel.

“Was redirected to another hotel”

I booked my stay at the laterne hotel, mainly because of all the good reviews and for the "kitch" of the rooms. I wanted to have a nice and comfy stay in Baden-Baden.

Upon arrival with my boyfriend, we were greeted by an awful woman. Really awful. The prison keeper kind. She took my expedia reservation and said "oh it's fransösich" (yep nearly nothing said even in english). She seemed to DOUBT I had make a reservation. I was sure of having booked the correct one (Laterne) but I was sent to the Gasthaus Golden Lion just opposite the street because "it's part of the same company".

In fact they're working on the rooms in the Laterne hotel. So if you want to stay there, phone the hotel first to confirm that rooms are really available there, otherwise you'll be redirected to another hotel. I didn't, confident in the expedia.fr confirmation of booking.

“A very pleasant stay”

We spent a weekend break here and were very pleased with our choice. This is very good value for money for a central location. The staff are very friendly and bend over backwards to help. If you prefer to stay in a sterile corporate hotel with a cavernous room then this may not be for you. If you appreciate free room service (i.e. the porter bringing up a meal from the restaurant at 10pm and throwing in a shot of schnapps) and like extra heart shaped pillows on your bed then you will be delighted. The restaurant is also pretty good, we highly recommend the local trout (smoked or baked). We stayed with our baby daughter and were provided with a cot free of charge.

“Ridiculously charming hotel, really wonderful”

We chose this hotel after reading the other reviews here on tripadvisor, and it didn't disappoint. Really lovely decor, charming exterior (perfect for photographs) and efficient and friendly staff. It's situated slap-bang in the centre of Baden-Baden, and was a great base for exploring the city. I would definitely return.

“In the centre of everything”

We arrived tired after a long but beautiful trip up the B500 through the Black Forest from Switzerland on our motorbike. We were able to bring the bike right to the hotel door for unloading even though the hotel is situated on a pedestrian area in the centre of town. Afterwards it was moved to a private parking area a few hundred metres from the hotel.
The historic, characterful hotel is bang in the middle of shops and restaurants and just opposite a good beer kellar. The staff are freindly and helpful. One guy is a biker too.
Our room was comfortable and the bathroom, though small, was clean, modern, and had a very good shower. Even though it is in the centre of things the room was quiet.
The breakfast was typically continental with everything you would normally expect.
All in all its a good spot for a stay in Baden-Baden.
