What a great place. This restaurant combines really good food and ambiance in an old time German setting. You could easily imagine you are in a Thomas Mann novel, as well dressed older folks, women wearing hats and long coats combine with a younger crowd and tourists in a calm and friendly setting. The food is absolutely 4 stars and just misses 5 stars. Cooking is typical German, no not bratwurst. I had an absolutely wonderful boullabaise, a huge portion served in an iron pot that was just first class. It was preceeded by a salmon tartare creatively served on a minced potato bed and topped with a gemuse of tomatoes and veggies. My friends had fish with a basilicum tomato soup. One had a very nice fish plate while anothe a soft cheese vegetarian selection.
Service was attentive, house wine very good, and the ladies loved the champagne by the glass and desert which was varied and house made.
Total bill for three with wine, champagne, machiatto, appetizers, main courses, and desert was 140 Euro with tip.
