The hotel has a good town centre location, handy for ski buses or a 5 min walk to slopes. The downside, as with all town centre hotels in ski resorts like Val d'Isere is the street noise as revellers make their way home from 2am-5am singing and shouting! Not the hotels fault but ear plugs are often a useful thing to have if you want a bright early start skiing. Either that or stay out late yourself!
The bedrooms are pleasant but lack attention to detail in the decor and the bar/lounge area is nice enough. The housekeeping staff are good as are the service staff, especially in the excellent Tavern d'Alsace restaurant below the hotel. Reception staff are helpful but there is a lack of hospitality that makes some places stand out as special. Breakfast was poor with a shortage of essentials such as croissants on more than one occasion and little choice of anything cooked.
I would happily return to the Kandahar but may look at other options for our next visit to the resort for something a bit more luxurious.
