We were in Lyon on the second weekend of Sept. 2010. We could not sleep well because across the street there were bars filled with customers/students laughing/talking until 3 a.m. Apparently, the hotel does not have a good sound proof wall. We could hear everything, imagine try to sleep at night. Mind you the room itself is quite pricy for a sleepless night. What an ugly, all-white bedroom. No fridge in the room, you have to go out to get all-you-can-drink water/soda in the hallway. No wi-fi internet access in the room, only if you bring your own laptop/netbook to be used in the lobby area. The elevator did not work on the day we left, so we had to walk up/down 5 flights of stairs (with luggage! ).

Bright, immaculate and large bedrooms (and baths). Small, modern, charming hotel with many amenities, located on a quiet corner of the lively Vieux Quartier (lively-especially during World Cup weeks). Lovely terrace and bar. Very friendly and helpful staff. Terrific location: walk to bars, cafes, patisseries, restos and boutiques. Walking distance (or take close-by public transportation) to major sights, open-air markets, museums, shopping, and train station for day-trips. Best value for price in Lyon.

We paid £121 for a "third cycle" room (highest grade). The double bed was uncomfortable, narrow and very short. Even so there was only just room to get round it. The bathroom was basic with a tiny bath. The "balcony" was for show not use. The white paint was scruffy in places and there were no bedside tables - just breeze-blocks to which the bedside lamps were fixed. On the plus side, the staff were helpful and the room (overlooking the second floor roof terrace which is just used as a sitting area) was quiet and the air-con worked OK.

Wonderful hotel for a weekend stay in Lyon. Cute, charming, romantic, wonderful breakfast with a perfect little boulangerie around the corner if you need to take a sandwich with you for the day . Great location, super nice/welcoming staff and spotless rooms. My wife and I still talk about this trip and the College hotel certainly helped make our little get-away in Lyon that much more enjoyable.
