For 80 E/night, La Residence provides clean, small rooms in a great location, with a very helpful staff. We actually complained about the small size of our first room, and they moved us to a "triple" room at no price increase. We'd hoped that the increase in room size would be accompanied by a bigger bed but it was not; instead of a full-bed, our 2d room had a full-bed with a twin right next to it. At this price, it's no surprse that the towels are small and a bit threadbare, or that the shampoo are in foilpacks.
Our first room was on the 5th floor overlooking the interior courtyard. Very quiet, since there was no one overhead. On the other hand, it was very warm, even with the air-conditioning running -- presumably (a) because hot air rises, and (b) because this floor has much lower ceilings than other floors (it appears that the building may have been a private house at one time and the top floor is presumably where the servants lived, in squatter rooms than the family). Our second room was on the 3rd floor, overlooking Rue Victor Hugo. With the windows open, it was quite noisy. But with the windows shut and the air-conditioning running, there was no street noise and the room temperature was very comfortable.
The staff could not have been nicer.
