This hotel is great for a one night stay. The location is ideal to access the tourist sights of Old Lyon. There is a large underground car park nearby which was easy to find driving in with limited directions and no sat nav and cost around €20 for 24 hours. The room was large enough and clean with 2 beds & bathroom and a fan provided which we needed in the heat. Less able travellers should be aware that there is no lift so at least 3 flights of stairs to climb but most people shouldn't find this a problem. I would recommend this for a short stay.

The location of this hotel is great, a 5 min walk to Vieux Lyon and close to the subway/metro stop. However, the hotel is located on a square, so it may be loud at night. I had no trouble sleeping at night, but the person I was with did. We had a room facing the square, so it might be better to get a room on the other side. Our room had a great view the Fourvière hill and was overall verycomfortable. We did not have a standing shower-just a bathtub and a handheld shower-which was fine for us. The bed and decoration of the room was fine-nothing fancy but not old and worn either.

To get to the hotel you have to go down a little back street and then climb two flights of stairs. Once you get to the hotel, I don't believe they have an elevator. Again, this wasn't a big deal for us, just fyi. The breakfast was wonderful-and assortment of breads and jams, butter, etc with orange juice and a hot drink.

While we stayed here we saw two people working the front desk-one was very friendly and helpful, the other kind of had bad attitude. Overall, this hotel was fine for a 2-night weekend stay.

We enjoyed our first trip to Lyon and were very satisfied with Hotel du Theatre. Our room was comfortable and reasonably roomy. It overlooked the square and was right opposite the theatre. The hotel is very central, close to the river and serves a good value breakfast.
We hope to return next year.

We had a Superior Room which was quite big with a large bathroom. Room decorated with nice furnishings and colors. Our room overlooked the theatre and the Célestins place as well as the Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière, which was really beautiful at lit up at night.

Located in a very good location close to everything. Breakfast consisted lots of bread/pastries with various toppings.

The only drawback was that there is a bar next to the hotel and we could hear the thumping music and crowd from our second level room. This didn't bother us since we stayed up late anyways and also because I had ear plugs with me but for light sleepers in a room in that area of the hotel it'll be a problem. The next night there was no noise that we could hear.

Would stay again if we return.
