As a cheap option for a business stay in Lyon this hotel was passable, but it is hard to say any more than that.

First, the good bits. Price was excellent, at 70Euros for a two-night stay. The free wifi worked a treat (have to call reception for a password but they sort it straightaway), and it was within walking distance of the Perrache train station for various connections I had. The bed was comfortable, and the reception staff were very helpful.

To the cons.

The rooms are very small indeed - reminded me of Hong Kong hotels. Basically enough room for a bed, your case, and that's about it. The shower cubicle was tiny, and had to basically prise myself through the slim gap in the door to even get in.

The location. I walked to the Kyriad from another hotel, and it is right next to the red light district (not advertised on the website funnily enough!) so basically had to walk past loads of women in miniskirts and knee-high boots trying to flag down passing cars.

It was never menacing and I never felt in danger, but it is not somewhere I would want to bring a Mrs and kids through.

Also, despite being right next to a main train station it was a faff-on to get to and from St Expury airport as the airport trains go from a different station. Meant buying Metro tickets and changing trains, but the public transport system is excellent so it wasn't a major drama.

The restaurant. It is virtually never open. There are adverts for it all over the hotel, but I never saw the lights on once during my two-day stay. That said, there is a lovely restaurant two doors up and another one 50 yards away which were both excellent and reasonably priced.

The TV - no satellite channels or sport channels. For a budget hotel I suppose this is acceptable, but in my experience even cheaper French hotels tend to have Canal+ and Sport+. I am a sports journalist, hence the concern!

For all of my complaints, as a cheap two-night business stay it was not so bad, and if it was the cheapest option next time I need to stay in Lyon on my own I would have no major problem staying here.

This was the best value hotel we found for our recent stay in Lyon. Rooms were small but the rooms were clean.
Seems to be part of a budget chain in France though we paid £50 per night which was the cheapest we found and yet not what we would automatically call 'cheap'.

Location was fairly central - the only 'issue' was that while it is situated on the south of Presqu'ile (central area) it could be quite confusing getting to the north of Presqu'ile due to the mass of motorways & train lines crossing the Presqu'ile forming an almost impenetrable Berlin Wall. The easiest way was to go through the Perrache train station which may appeal to all, especially at night.

I was planning to take several day trips so I thought I'd stay by the Train section. While the hotel is in the Presqu'ile (the middle of Lyon) - a pretty good spot for visiting the main Lyon tourist sites (by metro at least) -- the other train station Part-Dieu (in the Eastern section of town) is where all the trains I had to take went from/to.
So if you're saying for Lyon tourism it's fine - if you're staying for convenience to the train station, not so helpful.

Restaurant was pretty good for trying Lyon specialities (I was sick & didn't want to go out for food my first day). However, it was closed for 3 nights (& one night I saw a big group of people in there so maybe it was closed for a travel group??) The area surrounding the hotel has a few Italian restaurants, but is not a great place for looking for food.

WAY overcharged for internet 5 Euros for 1/2 hour (paid 1 Euro at an internet cafe in the next town).

Staff was helpful.

Room was clean & your basic 2 star lodging. I'd return.

It is an amazing hotel...when we arrived there was a welcoming drink for us in 'Le Bar de Louis" inside the hotel.....the stuff was very nice.....the room was a very comfortable cosy one..u could feel at home....i cannot find words for it....i liked everything in it.....the lights...the paintings...it has a view over the RHONE river .....it was beautiful...I simply LOVED it.....
I would definitely return to Kyriad Hotel...
