We are a family of 3 adults and stayed at La Reine Astrid for 4 nights in December 2011. I had read a few negative reviews before booking but I was tempted by the Trip Advisor Special rate of 112 euros and decided to give it a go anyway. For the price, I was not disappointed.
The suite we stayed in overlooked the terrace garden of the hotel and was very quiet. The rooms were spacious and quite clean. The kitchen had all the appliances needed to prepare a meal but hardly any utensils - I made a list of the things we needed and housekeeping happily provided them within 15 minutes. I usually stay in apartments which are not serviced daily and I was surprised when we returned each day to find the suite had been fully serviced and towels changed etc. The staff overall were courteous and obliging - directions to places were provided and our luggage stored for us on our last day in Lyon.
The toilet in our suite was separate to the bathroom - a great asset when the bathroom is occupied by another family member!
The tram to Part-Dieu stopped outside the hotel and very convenient to use to connect up to the rest of the public transport system in Lyon. There is also a lovely park across the road.

I stayed here for 2 nights in November as I was attending a conference at the nearby Convention Centre at Citée Internationale. I'd agree with other reviewers that it is a little dated and the keys are definitely not to be taken out of the hotel due to the weight and size! As these are suites you are provided with a small kitchen as well as a minibar. I made use of the minibar but not the kitchen. The bathroom is a good size but the shower was not very powerful at all. The staff however are very friendly and upon check in I was informed that they were keeping a package for me before I had a chance to ask if it had been delivered. The breakfast buffet is expensive at €20 but there is a good selection. The bar is small but very comfortable and we were able to order bar snacks after 11pm which we had previously been told was their cut off. My other grips was that as my room was at the front of the hotel I was woken by the traffic noise each morning. For this and the shower I'm rating this an average stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights and had a good experience. The suite was very clean but a bit dated.The kitchen was really old. We had to request extra towels and bedding. The breakfast here was great. A front of house staffer was very helpful and made a great restaurant booking for us for New Years Eve. We really appreciated it.

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in for €170 per night I did expect a clean room & staff that answered the phone at lease. Room had a kitchen what was quite nice I used a few plates put them in the dishwasher first day & they stayed in their dirty for the three nights I stayed at La Reine Astrid. They might be still there!! Haha!! Ali Afshar the general manager has offered me a drink & a room upgrade for the next time I'm in the hotel (I think thats to say sorry) but, I just don't think I can take the punishment for a drink!.
