Not for the claustrophobic. Rooms are VERY small but this is a very old building. Staff are a delight, breakfast is fine, bed was comfortable and clean, plumbing worked and so did lift.
No air conditioning but electric fan. No view at back of building but I suspect that the rooms at the front could be like ovens -given that the sun beats on them all day. The central location makes this place ideal for a short break.

Oh my god ! What can I say, avoid this hotel like the plague !!! Situated down a seedy little side street in Lyon. This is without a doubt the worst hotel I have ever stayed in (and I include some ver y dodgy Youth Hostels). The room was filthy, there was dust everywhere and it looked like it hadn't been cleaned for years. The inside of the room was extremely basic, and the view from the window ? What view, you look directly onto the side of the building next door - so close you could touch it. Dark, dingy, and the bathroom, try pubes round the shower head ! That's how dirty this place was.

Good security

The location of the Bellecordiere was quite good. It is easy to find from Place Bellacour and close walking to all the great areas of Lyon. The staff was very friendly and courteous. The breakfast was excellent. Fresh bread and croissants, cheeses and yogurt and a nice cup of coffee, tea or chocolate. Really worth the value. The room left something to be desired. Very much like some hostels I have stayed in and the bed was AWFUL! The most uncomfortable bed ever. Plus I didn't feel very secure. The rooms only locked by pushing in the knob. No bolts or chains. Perhaps this is common in France? Oh ya, don't forget to leave your key at the front desk or your room won't be clean when you get back. In all reality, Lyon is an amazing city and if you are in the right location, does anything else matter?
