Great location, particularly if travelling by train into Part Dieu station with taxis and trams also right on the doorstep. Rooms are clean and unfussy, certainly not huge but in honesty all you need.
Reception staff are efficient and friendly, a real pleasure to deal with. Bar staff likewise, friendly, superfast service with a smile!
The restaurant was not the best experience, perhaps we were tired and simply ordered the wrong dishes but the evening meal was a failure all round. We ordered seasonal veggies with an aioli mayonnaise, to our surprise and and disappointment we received a plate of cold cooked vegetables to dip into the mayo - it was hideous at every level. My colleague ordered Lyonnaise sausage and manged no more than a single bite. Take care choosing a table, having a flat screen television right next to you would work well if you are alone but is somewhat disconcerting if you are with someone, it is as though you have an uninvited guest at the table! Breakfast the following morning was far better!
The cost, €195 excluding breakfast, per night seemed a little steep but as this is the heart of Lyon, what else would you expect.
Overall a typically good Novotel experience.
