“Good Rest for the Weary (and convenient)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 October 2011

We were desperate. We got off the train after twelve hours, due to delays we missed our train to our next destination, it was pouring rain, and saw an advertisement for a 52euro/night place. We went in - they were booked. Right next door was the Novotel.

I have stayed in the Novotel in NYC before and was previously aware of what they offered. With our struggles that day, I was just looking for familiarity. We went in, room price ended up 107euro with tax (on a Saturday night). We took it. We were in our room within ten minutes.

There was free wifi and Mac computers free for patron's use (I was able to update my blog from them -- with pictures!). Outside of the hotel were a few restaurants (Subway, a few other local places) so we were able to get food quickly.

The TV worked well, the hotel itself was quiet. The bed and bathroom were clean. It was literally right next to the train station so the next morning our time to the train was minimal.

Honestly we were exhausted travelers who were wet and frustrated with trains - we needed comfort, a good shower, some hot tea, and just to relax. This hotel accommodated it all. Now I've been to two Novotels in two countries, so far I've been very happy with my experience with them.

Room Tip: Not sure - we were on the train station side of the building and didn't hear any noise and our s...

“Just Ok... Uncooperative Staff to Allow Elevator Access”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

I stayed at this hotel on a business trip over a 3 day period. While, the hotel room and sleep experiences were OK... (nothing out of the ordinary), the problem I encountered throughout was the uncooperative nature of the staff to allow my visitors to use the elevator. They required me to keep coming down due to the access card needed to operate the elevator. I understand the need for security, but after my guests have spoken via house phone from the reception, the staff still did not escort them to the elevator and insert their access card for them to come to my floor. Staff at other hotels have always cooperated.

“City Break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 October 2011

Location adjacent to railway station but no significant noise. Staff very helpful and welcoming. Spacious rooms and our room was very well cleaned and replenished every day. As the location was in the "centre" we were not invaded by coach parties at the weekend which usually stay for one night and can be disruptive for those wishing to have a peaceful break.

“the concept of having middle door between two rooms is not good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

My room had a door to the next room of a total stranger with a handle only on my side. However in case of wish the other person could have enter to my room by just pushing that door which actually i did without knowing that that door leads to another room. The whole concept may be good for cleaning or room enlarging purposes but then the door can have a lock (with key).
And actually all the noise from the neighbor room came was disturbing due to this door.

There was no way to avoid wetting my heir while showering as the shower was only one mantled hard above.

The breakfast is also very basic.

“Ok hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

The hotel is very close to train station but a bit far from the city center. Another remark is the parking. The hotel doesn't have an elevator that goes directly to the parking lot. Service is ok, it's clean (although I found an empty dirty glass in the middle of the hall) and the appts its the stardard for Novotels rooms. It's an old but good hotel.
