We were desperate. We got off the train after twelve hours, due to delays we missed our train to our next destination, it was pouring rain, and saw an advertisement for a 52euro/night place. We went in - they were booked. Right next door was the Novotel.
I have stayed in the Novotel in NYC before and was previously aware of what they offered. With our struggles that day, I was just looking for familiarity. We went in, room price ended up 107euro with tax (on a Saturday night). We took it. We were in our room within ten minutes.
There was free wifi and Mac computers free for patron's use (I was able to update my blog from them -- with pictures!). Outside of the hotel were a few restaurants (Subway, a few other local places) so we were able to get food quickly.
The TV worked well, the hotel itself was quiet. The bed and bathroom were clean. It was literally right next to the train station so the next morning our time to the train was minimal.
Honestly we were exhausted travelers who were wet and frustrated with trains - we needed comfort, a good shower, some hot tea, and just to relax. This hotel accommodated it all. Now I've been to two Novotels in two countries, so far I've been very happy with my experience with them.
