“A little tired / in need of some updating.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 November 2011

No great shakes but really could do with updating. Good sized rooms, excellent bed and despite other comments an excellent (free) wi-fi service in the bedrooms (although for some reason a bit hit and miss in the meeting rooms). The bathroom was a disappointment and desperately needs updating with gaps / cracks on the floor, the bath and the sink areas - perfectly clean, just very dated. The shower was however hot and powerful - an important factor. Although I haven't ventured out yet I understand the hotel is well located for the town with it's countless shops / restaurants. The food at the hotel is OK but very, well French so vegetarians and those who prefer burger and chips (or indeed French Fries) watch out! There is a health club, with sauna, gym etc but I think this may be closed for refurb. There are posters around the place indicating there are works underway to refurb the rooms / health facility so I suspect the place is undergoing some of these suggested improvements already. I would probably look at other hotels nearby before staying here again in the future.

Room Tip: Avoid the interconnecting rooms (I had one) and the noise from next door was a problem every now and...

“if you are visiting on business....stay elsewhere”

just checked in....brutal....no internet available in the rooms and has not been for over a week I'm told. Rooms are also in desperate need of renos....dated decor....holes in wall....crumbliing fixtures. Not at all what I would expect from the Mercure. Front desk staff is poorly trained and unfriendly.

Room Tip: I stayed at the Best Western Pont Wilson the last visit....was much better....book there.

“Great hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 August 2011

We loved this hotel! We got an upgrade because the room we had requested was not available but the upgrade was a nice thing to get and we enjoyed that. We felt secured in here since access to the elevator it's only done with the card and we will definitely come back. The only inconvenience was its location. In order to go to the old town, we had to walk about 20 minutes but we did not mind. Access to the bus is in front of the hotel; which will take you to the train station in just a couple of minutes.

“Excellent hotel in a wonderful city”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2011

Stayed for one night en route to the south of France. Hotel is very central near the river and 10 minutes from town where the shopping and restaurants are fantastic.

Hotel is easy to find although the parking is tricky so just pull up out the front and the concierge will kindly park it and return.

Rooms are huge including a super king bed. Slightly dated but it had wifi and a full selection of TV channels so we were happy bunnies.

Our dog stayed as well of which there was no charge.

Didn't have breakfast so can't comment.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again

“Nice hotel in a wonderful city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 July 2011

Stayed here for 2 nights in a superior room and was very impressed. The room was big with a king sized bed (amazingly comfortable), desk chairs and Tv. Room also had a safe and complementary drinks restocked every day.
Hotel is slightly charmless and bland in the business part of town, and about 15 minute waalk across the river to the main area, but is relatively convenient to the train station. Staff were friendly, especially bar staff who was very helpful and accomodationg for a late night snack and drinks, giving us detals of the food and wine we were drinking.
Overall the hotel is quite nice and would recommend it
