“Some problems”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2007

As the previous poster said there definitely are some problems. The hotel is in a fantastic location and the restoration is imaginatively done. The silk draperies in the rooms are great and the bar is very hip. However in its present condition it s price should be well below 200 euros per room not over 300. We had a (dark) standard room where the walls of the loo were caving in, there was no cold water in the tub, the bedside tables were scruffy, the handle came off the door.....a notice in the room informed us there would be no internet access until May! At check out it took us half an hour to get the car out of the garage (25 euros per car per night) because the poor concierge hadn't been told where it was......The staff were very nice and helpful but at these prices I expect a bit more.

  • Liked — The silk draperies, the bar, the location.
  • Disliked — Over priced, in need of repair.

“Take care”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 November 2006

This was a great hotel and the echoes are still there in the architecture and the silk draped rooms but the hotel is under new ownership and there are some problems as the new team attempt to get back to the old standards.
We had problems with our breakfast, which arrived each day with something missing, and the rooms are tired and in need of some repair work and the elevator broke down but was quickly fixed.
We only eat in the ground floor brassiere and had no problems with the food.
On the positive side the new owner Jacques Champion, his partner and all his people were outstandingly friendly and helpful.
My advice would be that if you don't mind a few rough edges in your hotel experience, this is still a special place but not quite to the standards of earlier times.

“Sublime experience”

This is one of the most unique hotels I've ever had the pleasure to visit. The rooms are exquisitely beautiful, the fabrics and textures and colors. The entire hotel is like a work of art. My highest compliments to the owners and staff. The cuisine is the stuff of legend - served in beautiful surroundings. The hotel's location in the mainly pedestrian area of old Lyon is wonderful for strolling and window shopping and lingering at cafes for drinks and meals. I wish I could have stayed longer!

La tour rose, in the middle of old Lyon is thoroughly recommendable. The rooms are individually different, location could not be better and the hospitality and friendly service is first class.A place to stay at in Lyon if you like the easy life with everything you need within walking distance

La tour rose had really modern and funky rooms.Every afternoon when we would arrive back to the room some fabulous dessert creation was waiting for us.The restaurant in the hotel was amazing.Ill never forget I had a truffle the size of a golf ball in a puff pastery with a perigord sauce I actually got high from the overdose of truffle...it was amazing.I would stay at La Tour Rose next time I go to Lyon and it is so perfectly located!
