Globe & Cecil is truly a gem of a Hotel. Clean, spacious, well lighted, large rooms, friendly staff, speak English, breakfast included. We found this Hotel pulling our suitcases down a street in the rain at 9:00PM after being surprised at what (my fault) turned out to be not what we expected at another Hotel. (checked out) Upon arriving in the lobby of the Globe et Cecil wet, tired, frustrated, we were pleasantly rewarded with vacancy, which we jumped at for the next four nights. The room was very large, big bath, separate water closet, stall shower, two sinks, tub, well lit, corner room. Staff lady on duty is terrific, came to our rescue just when we needed a lift. Rate was good for the high quality of the Globe et Cecil The location is terrific, right around the corner from the Place Des Celestins & The Celestins theater, a block from the pedestrian only shopping street, restaurants row is another three blocks away, and other places to eat all around the Hotel. One in particular is, L Amboise, two blocks around the corner on D'Amboise Place. A fabulous little restaurant, not to be missed. Take the walking tour of Lyon, at the Tourist Office down the block and across Louis IV Platz, well worth the time. You will get to see the Traboules. Also the bus tour which goes to more parts of the city and also across the river as the walking tour. Walk everywhere, it is a great city to explore. The tour of the textiles is also one that is very worthwhile. Enjoy Lyon, it is a treasure
