We spent a week skiing over the vacances scolaires in February 2011. The Hotel de Trois Vallees was a great find. We stayed in the 2 bedroom penthouse apartment. Here are the pros and cons of the hotel and the big suite:

Pros:
The location cannot be beaten in Courchevel 1850. You are both in the village and directly on the slopes.

The hotel is a really nice size - big enough to feel like a proper hotel with services, but small enough to feel intimate.

The staff of the hotel are friendly and helpful and will speak to you in the language you choose to speak. Some places in Courchevel the staff who are often Eastern European prefer to speak English to you rather than French if they think you will understand English.

The top floor apartment is very cozy and warm and charmingly decorated.

The hotel is nicely decorated in a sort of modern alpine look (although it would be nice if they got rid of the metal deer in the entry).

The onsite ski room is FANTASTIC. If you rent your equipment from that retailer, the guy who runs the shop actually sets your skis and poles outside for you every time when you are inside putting on your boots and helmet.

Cons:
The housekeeping staff is not especially thorough - there were clothes left by a previous occupant in the drawers, sometimes the turndown service would turn down only 1 of the 2 bedrooms, the number of towels and washcloths day to day seemed to vary randomly, etc.

The top floor apartment is literally in the eaves, so much of the square footage is unusable except as storage, and count on hitting your head at least once in a week.

The lift is inadequate for the number of people in the hotel and does not go all the way up to the 6th floor apartment so you have to climb a little narrow stair to get up there.

The bed is really 2 twin beds shoved together - and they won't stay together! There is a chasm in the middle, which also pulls the sheets off at the corners, so when you wake up, you find a decent part of the bed is just bare mattress.

While the rooms are reasonably priced (for Courchevel), the apartment was really expensive - if it didn't have the various issues - sloping ceilings, iffy housekeeping, no refill of the fireplace logs when requested, lift that went all the way up, etc. I might have thought the price commensurate, but as it was, I thought it was over-priced.

So, we thought this was a great choice for 1850 which itself is the best of the 3 vallees resorts, and we would stay there again definitely.

“Lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 February 2011

I stayed at the Hotel des trois Vallees for 5 nights with my fiancee, the experience was very enjoyable. The staff was very friendly from the moment of Check in and all through our stay.
The hotel is small and very cozy, my room overlooked the ski pistes, it was really beautiful. The ski in ski out was perfect.
All in all this was my first trip to courchevel, and it will definitely not be my last, and i would definitely stay at this hotel again

“Above and beyond - fantastic staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 February 2011

Fantstic gem of a hotel that we would stay at again. The guy running the skishop is amazingly service minded, getting hold of the exact right skiies for everyone from different shops and making sure all ski equipment is in order. The ease of getting boots and skis fiited in the shop at the hotel beats the hazzle normally encountered at the traditional skishops. The hotel is very cosy, very trendy and the staff is truly amazing. They go out of their way to organize speciel diet for a sick child, getting hold of the local English speaking doctor, leaves a deliciuos package of chocolates as excuse for a defect DVD player, and is just very presonal and attentive. The location of the hotel is ski-in/ski-out and equally easy for accessing the village of Courchevel, which can be difficult to find there.Lastly the price compared to the size of rooms and quality of food and service makes it a really good deal.

“Excellent Hotel at Most Convenient Ski Location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 February 2011

A small luxurious hotel with extremely service oriented staff.
Directly located at the slope, in 30 sec from Ski Room to Ski Lifts...

Like the service of staff best, friendly and supportive reception staff.
Restaurant nice (although a bit pricey, as is all in Courchevel 1850 due to Russian tourists)

Best Irish Coffee in Courchevel (or according to Le Directeur: probably in the world) ;)

“Nice but not satisfied...”

We stayed at the Trois Vallees for a week over Easter Break. The location is very convenient for both skiing and going down into the village. Rooms were clean and spacious. We were on a half board so had breakfast and dinner there but there was a option to dine in the other Luxury Mountain Hotels which we did for one night. The food was good but the only disappointment was the wine. Firstly, it was horrendously expensive compared to some of the other restaurants in the village. Some of the wines cost double the price of the mountain restaurants which should be the other way around. Secondly, the white wine was never chilled considering the fact the we were paying a lot for it, so every night we had to ask to have it chilled for a while. That was the same for a bottle of champagne as well. When we went to dine at their partner hotel (Hotel Des Neiges) the wine was in fact cheaper and very nicely chilled. Our other disappointment was that whenever we asked for something to get fixed, it never happened. i.e. light bulb replacement, our phone never worked in our room as well. The hotel had free Wifi but the connection was awful and didn't really work all the time. My husband wanted to use the fitness room but all of their machines were out of order. The man in the ski room was very helpful and efficient. It was a ski in/ski out place so he always had the correct skis all out and ready.
Overall we had a good time but again the over priced wine did put us off in ordering a second bottle when you're on a holiday...
