“Best place near Mont Blanc, Chamonix”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 June 2010

The Hotel looks WOW in simple wooden work like the homes that surround it. It is best located near the start of the chair car that takes you up to Mont Blanc. There is a small stream that runs beside the hotel. There is a famous casino just next to the hotel, where you can try your hand at gambling, or just watch the fun. All winter ski activities are located near this hotel. The food was great, and surprisingly, there were Indian cooks in the hotel. The views of the Alps from the rooms are fabulous!

“The Quality of Experience at the Hotel Mont-Blanc”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 January 2010

We have just returned, along with six friends, from a weeks skiing trip to Chamonix and stayed at the 4 star Hotel Mont-Blancl. It is difficult to know where to start as everything about the Mont-Blanc truly deserves it's 4 if not 5 star status. The welcome we received when checking in to the hotel was friendly and efficient and when one of the rooms was not as requested it was changed and a free upgrade given. The lounge and bar were comfortable and relaxing and again the staff were excellent. Now to the restaurant - what an experience, we have all agreed that we have never had such quality, presentation and exceptional food on previous skiing trips. The chef and his staff along with the dining room staff were efficient, friendly and helpful and explained the menu to us each evening. The bedrooms were very comfortable with ample towels, toiletries and piping hot water. The cleanliness throughout the hotel was obvious from the moment we entered the front door. There is also a very well equipped ski boot room which was warm and easy to access and the sauna and heated outdoor pool were very welcoming after a hard days skiing. All in all a wonderful experience and we would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a little taste of luxury in Chamonix.

“Magnificent Views!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 July 2009

We booked this lovely hotel weeks in advance and received "looking forward to your visit" emails days prior to our arrival. The check-in process was friendly and professional. We were shown our adjoining rooms (traveled with my brother and his wife, all well) and made to feel right at home. We paid more for rooms with views of Mont Blanc at booking time, and were treated to breathtaking scenery from our rooms! And, that was from the 2nd floor! One of our rooms had a balcony, and all 4 of us would spend each morning and each night staring out at the incredible view!! The rooms were tastefully appointed with large, comfortable bathrooms, ample closet space and a safe. The lobby, hallways, staircases and elevator were all in pristine condition, and the beautiful garden setting and pool were most attractive. Each staff member with whom we came into contact was courteous and professional. I would recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a 4-star experience in a great location. You can walk to anything from here. A PLUS!

“Disappointing sums it up. Four stars?!? Try two.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2009

Writing this from my room in fact . . . the other negative reviews sum it up for me. If I'd been expecting a two star hotel in 5 star Chamonix, I would be okay with it, but four stars for this place?!? It makes me wonder how that system works. (I just spent three weeks in a three star in Paris that blows this place away in every respect EXCEPT history.)
There have to be nicer hotels in this city . . .

“the most amazing hotel in the most fantastic location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2009

We are just back from 3 days in Chamonix and this hotel really capped off a memorable holiday. From the start, we could not have enjoyed ourselves more.
The foyer of the hotel is reminiscent of old world grandeur from the reception area to the beautiful piano bar. Our room was a good size and had a certain quaintnesss that comes with age. Some of the furniture was mismatched but I think this added to the charm. We were on the 5th floor and had breathtaking views of the mountains. The one slight criticism is that the toilet and bathroom could do with a little updating but this is a small quibble.
The location is right in the centre of the town but 1 street away from the noisy bars so we were never woken up by revellers.

Where this hotel really stands out are on both service and the food. From the moment we arrived in the hotel, we were greeted with a friendly respect and nothing was too much trouble. Every evening when we arrived back from a tough day on the slopes, our skis were taken off us and deposited in our locker. Also, when we were looking for directions back to Lyon, they took out a big map and took lots of time to plot the shortest route.
We ate in the main restuarant 1 night and for E37 we ate probably the finest 7 course meal we have ever tasted. This included oysters, foie gras, scallops, pork....served in the prettiest way. We eventually had to refuse the cheeseboard because we were too full!! We tried to eat there again on our last night but the restuarant was full so we had to go down the town and were served vastly inferior food for the same price which was all the more annoying knowing what we could have been enjoying. So book the restuarant for at least 1 night even if you're not staying in the hotel - you will not be disappointed.

All in all, a memorable stay and we will definitely be back!!.

I cannot finish this review without mentioning the ski guides we had for our 3 days skiing. They are called Chamonix Fun Tours and can be booked through the ESF main office. If you are at a decent level, do try this. Eric and Lionel will collect you from your hotel every morning and bring you to the best snow and conditions for the day, guide you to places you've never been before - mainly off piste and then deposit you back at your hotel at the end of the day. They cater for everything from intermediate to mental and you can swap between classes if the going in one class is either too tame or too scary(I moved from scary to tame for the last afternoon, as my legs couldn't take it anymore!) They will aslo provide tuition but not too so much that you're constantly waiting around. They will also bring you to the nicest restuarant for lunch on whatever mountain you're skiing. They are not cheap but definitely worth it and most of their business is repeat. In fact we were skiing with a couple who had been returning to the guides for 20 years.

I cannot recommend either hotel or Cham Fun Tours highly enough - the whole holiday was truly memorable.
