“Good location and nice apartment”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2011

The location is a perfect one in a nice location. Many Shops and Restaurants/Bars in the area. The apartment was located facing over the garden area. The apartment was including a sofa, dining table and a small kitchenette apart from a doublebed. Large LCD TV and bathroom. The apart hotel had also a fitnesswellness facaility.
As also some other clients said, I must agree that the reception was available until 8pm approx, also the check-in is very limited, between 4/5pm till 8pm. Still when in need the staff was very helpful. The price is moderate.

“Excellent location for a family-friendly hotel - an unexpected gem.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 August 2009

Le vieux Annecy is quite a compact area and this hotel is right on the edge of it, so it benefits from being accessible and yet not noisy from tourist activity outside. Perfect location, in other words.
My family had a two room suite with kitchenette for flexibility, and a balcony from which to enjoy an early evening drink in the sunshine before exploring the various restaurants right on the hotels doorstep.
The rooms were spotless and the beds very comfortable. While we did not take advantage of the facilities that the hotel had to offer, we found the staff to be welcoming, helpful and informative. I have to disagree with other reviewers who have criticised the hotel - our experience was that it was clean, spacious, well-equipped and very comfortable,
Parking is available if pre-booked, which can be useful as otherwise it can be difficult. As it was, we stayed from Saturday to Monday, and we found a place on the street just next to the hotel, and it cost us 3 euros (no charge on Sunday) instead of 15 euros per day, but we just struck lucky.
All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the hotel for a city break.

“We loved it so much, we stayed longer!”

Le Royal was an excellent choice for our family with 2 young kids. It had the space and peacefullness we needed, yet it is so central and within walking distance to everything in Annecy.
Annecy is a great holiday destination for families with kids - there are large safe playgrounds, one is very close to the hotel. The lovely lake with a minature train and boat rides are within walking distance. The minature train takes you to the other side of the lake where there is a swimming pool. There is a market on Sunday mornings in Annecy. Just be warned that the banks are closed on Mondays, so we had to exchange travellers cheques at a small change bureau.
The hotel staff was so friendly and helpfull, we decided to stay another night because of the lovely peacefull, relaxed atmosphere in Annecy. The hotel is clean and everything was perfect, and it was very convenient to have a kitchen in our suite. The breakfasts are lovely, and it was so nice to sit on the patio overlooking Annecy and have birds around us that picked up the bread crumbs. We definitely want to return to Annecy!

“Can't imagine staying anywhere else in Annecy”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 June 2008

We just returned from a long weekend in Annecy where we stayed at Le Royal. I don't know where to begin to extol the virtues, at least for our needs. It was convenient - to the train station and to sights - being in old town, but not in the heart, so accessible by car. We arrived and were greeted by friendly, helpful and English speaking staff (which isn't necessary, but it helps). The room was like a lovely apartment. We had an ample living room with sofa, chairs, coffee table, bookshelf, as well as a dining table w/4 chairs and an amply outfitted kitchen "unit" with 2 burners, microwave, sink, refrigerator, coffee pot, dishes and cooking utensils. In addition there was a separate bedroom and bathroom. Our rooms each had a small (standing room only) balcony facing the entrance courtyard. Despite being in a very central location, it was relatively quiet. We chose to sleep with the windows/french doors open, but with them closed it was very quite. Because there is air conditioning, you can sleep with the windows closed! There is an optional breakfast (extra cost) in a lovely breakfast room or on the terrace. We chose not to do that, since we had purchased fruit, juice, yogurt and coffee at the nearby Monoprix and made our own breakfast each morning with the addition of croissants from one of several nearby boulangeries. I have no hesitation in recommending Le Royal!

BTW - There are little packets of instant coffee, but if you want the real thing, you need to buy coffee - but not filters; at least the drip pot in our room came with a reusable "gold" filter. You are expected to wash your own dishes, but are only supplied with a dish towel - so you will need to figure something out (I bought a little sponge at the Monoprix and used shampoo for dish soap).

  • Liked — Having so much room; an apartment feel.
  • Disliked — nothing
