Enjoyable stay facilitated by engaging and helpful staff. Room very clean..bed marginally comfortable. Good breakfast and a totally enjoyable city on the edge of the French Alps. One hour drive to Chamonix..and Mount Blanc.

Directly across the street from the train station, this is the first two star hotel I have ever used. I was traveling solo and was only there for a night so I was looking for convenience, not luxury. It was perfect for my needs and I would recommend highly. I saw later that Rick Steeves had also recommended it. My room was recently repainted, etc. and had an excellent television. There is really no lobby, you walk up to the desk and small breakfast area (I didn't eat the breakfast which is extra). It was very clean and just 2-3 blocks to the old town and canal.

We loved our stay in Annecy and this hotel was perfect, not too pricey, but clean and a few steps from the old town. The staff was just wonderful to us. He had 3 rooms and our whole party was delighted. They have firm beds and clean rooms. It was Tuesday, Market Day and the place was buzzing! I would stay here again and again!

As other reviewers have pointed out, the big plus about the Hotel des Alpes is the location. It is right across the road from the train station and centrally located in the old town. Apart from that, it is clean, comfortable, run by welcoming and courteous staff and serves a reasonable breakfast. It isn't a luxury hotel by any means, but offers good value for money. It would not suit anyone with mobility problems as there is no lift (elevator) and the stairs are pretty steep.
I would go back.
