Based on reviews and photos we weren't expecting luxury. However coming across Hotel Splendid made us so happy in comparison to our Paris hotel. It was half the price, but the room was twice the size. Great bedding, beautiful view of the lake, no traffic noise. Balcony which was fantastic. Lots of tea and coffee and little milks for hot drinks. Big tv. Wardrobe. Safe. Nice bathroom - large. Staff very friendly - when we asked for a map we were not simply handed the map like we were in Chamonix in Paris - rather we were shown where the hotel was, what areas were interesting, and given ideas on what to do. It is just near the old part of the town - absolutely gorgeous. Right by the lake. PERFECT location.
Two restaurant tips - if you walk out of the hotel and turn right, the first street turn right on. We discovered it on our last day sadly. Also the restaurant L'Etage is a local favorite that we discovered. It is round the corner from the hotel at 13 Rue de Pacquer, down an alley and upstairs. Fantastic fondue, raclette and great salads. Very friendly and helpful staff, and away from lots of the touristy restaurants.
Annecy itself is a fantastic little town which we almost skipped, but so glad we didn't. We will definitely stay at Splendid again when we return in the future!
Room Tip: The lake facing rooms were really nice - great views. And not at all noisy. We were right by the ele...
