Based on reviews and photos we weren't expecting luxury. However coming across Hotel Splendid made us so happy in comparison to our Paris hotel. It was half the price, but the room was twice the size. Great bedding, beautiful view of the lake, no traffic noise. Balcony which was fantastic. Lots of tea and coffee and little milks for hot drinks. Big tv. Wardrobe. Safe. Nice bathroom - large. Staff very friendly - when we asked for a map we were not simply handed the map like we were in Chamonix in Paris - rather we were shown where the hotel was, what areas were interesting, and given ideas on what to do. It is just near the old part of the town - absolutely gorgeous. Right by the lake. PERFECT location.

Two restaurant tips - if you walk out of the hotel and turn right, the first street turn right on. On that block, on the right, is a gorgeous cafe with beautiful croissants, macaroons and delicious homemade hot chocolate (chocolat chaud) that comes in a jug that you pour yourself. We discovered it on our last day sadly. Also the restaurant L'Etage is a local favorite that we discovered. It is round the corner from the hotel at 13 Rue de Pacquer, down an alley and upstairs. Fantastic fondue, raclette and great salads. Very friendly and helpful staff, and away from lots of the touristy restaurants.

Annecy itself is a fantastic little town which we almost skipped, but so glad we didn't. We will definitely stay at Splendid again when we return in the future!

People there are extremely friendly and helpful. While there is no onsite parking,they do provide free overnight parking at the nearby city lot. Room and bathroom were very clean. Only reason I don't give it a 5 is because for the price of the room, they could provide free parking

This was the best hotel according to reviews on trip advisor as well as other websites and glad I took the advice and booked. Nice location, clean hotel, VERY helpful staff (who went above and beyond the few months before as I kept changing the numbers in our group and the amount of rooms needed), decent breakfast. We had bike rentals from a local outdoor adventure store (Takamaka) and kept them too long in the evening so needed a safe place to store overnight. The staff at Splendid let us store the bikes in the basement of the hotel! Thank you Splendid! My own personal experience, although not the experience of the others in my group was that it was a bit loud at night and I have trouble sleeping when there is other noise. For some reason it was on the warm side in our room (we had 2 rooms) and although the AC was on, it didnt cool the room enough, hence we opened the window... enter: noise. BUT I am noise sensitive and the next night we kept window closed and AC seemed to be doing its job and it was a better nights sleep. Would definitely stay here again.
