“Le Castelet des Alpilles-charming old French hotel.”

I chose this hotel for old French charm experience and it was almost exactly what I’ve
expected. This is an old house with some additions remodeled into hotel.
The pros: Good customer service with enough English to communicate;
very pretty French country style reading room and dining room; remodeled updated bathroom;
free WiFi service in the common area, beautiful view from the window, free parking; the town center
in 5 minutes walking distance; the grocery store is also 5 minutes away.
Cons: Split level property with no elevator or bell boy service; the room is so plain it reminded
me of the nuns chamber(I’ve asked for the room with the balcony, but they only offered it for the higher price
even the hotel was almost empty); the walls are thin, you can hear noises in the corridor and the
neighboring rooms (it wasn’t too bad since the hotel was almost empty); the free WiFi doesn’t work in the room;
no curtain in the bathtub (not sure what is the deal with this, I believe it will be much cheaper for the owners
to install the curtain than deal with water spilled all over the bathroom floor and possible leaks).
Overall we were satisfied with this hotel since it wasn’t crowded and we intentionally selected this country style property.

“A gem in Provence”

This is a really beautiful & charming hotel set in the wonderful town of St Remy. The room was large with a separate toilet & bathroom (with a bath). The view from the room was lovely. There are no lifts that we saw so you need to carry luggage up the stairs. The breakfast was plentiful, fresh and tasty. You can eat indoors or on the terrace. The hotel has some beautiful aspects as it was a family home (mansion) before it was a hotel. We found the staff to be both friendly & helpful.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balcony.

“Perfect”

A perfect place to lie your head in St Remy de Provence. Just outside the center of the town, it's clean, quiet and has abundant charm. The bedrooms are a nice size, many with a balcony and nice views of the surrounding hills. Most have AC. Private, closed gate parking is available for free. The furniture is old but lovely. The bathroom we had was, on the other hand, right up to date. Dogs are accepted, though for a small nightly charge. Reception and all help were very hospitable. Well worth a stay.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the hills and away from town have a balcony and a great view and may be quieter (?) Roo...

I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Provence. Meeting the receptionist was being welcomed to a warm home-away-from-home.The double room, with bath and w.c., was clean, well decorated, comfortable (especially the bed and pillows!) and afforded us a lovely view of the distant hills.
The breakfast buffet ( with option of no charge room service) offered a plentiful and varied choice of baked items, cold cuts, cereals, juices, and home made jams, to eat in the pleasant and sunny dining room or on the adjoining terrace.
The garden is a lovely place to sit and relax with a pot of tea the staff is happy to arrange for you when you come back from wandering about.
The staff was particularly pleasant, helpful with suggestions for sightseeing. And the village afforded a large choice of Brasseries, Cafes, and even a Salon de The with home made ice cream and crepes, all within easy walking distance.
The town is about an hour away from Nimes or Arles, or the Camargue, less to the Pont du Gard, or Avignon. So exploring the region is easy and full of surprises (Les Baux is only 10 km. away) and good food to sample, as well as wines.

Room Tip: Third floor ha better view, but all rooms are equally clean and comfortable.

“Charming”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

We had not booked any accommodation in one particular week of our travels through France so we were delighted to wing it and find two double rooms available at this hotel. We were welcomed by a lovely lady who was happy to show us the rooms before we made a decision. The rooms were gloriously spacious, perfectly clean and completely adequate. There are lovely sitting areas within the hotel and a great outdoor courtyard under an umbrella of trees where we were able to sit and enjoy wine and nibblies bought from the nearby supermarket. Easy stroll into the centre of town. Would loved to have stayed longer. Will look no further than Le Castelet if we ever get back to St Remy.
