“Paradise in provence”

My wife and I spent 7 nights in September 2011 at this wonderful quiet country inn. The rooms are beautifully decorated and comfortable with plenty of space. The gardens are extensive, well maintained and lovely. We swam twice a day in the pool surounded by trees and looking up at the blue sky. Our room had a patio. You can hike in the grounds and nearby areas. It is close to St Remy for restaurants and to all the local sights. The owners are cordial and will take care of all your needs.

“An extraordinary setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 October 2011

My husband and I spent a week as part of our honeymoon at Le Mas des Figues and were swept away by the beauty and tranquility of the property. We were fortunate to stay in the 2nd floor room which offered a beautiful terrace overlooking the pool and rose garden, a king size bed (quite comfortable), and a claw foot soaking tub. Phillipe and Anne Marie were both gracious hosts. I have read some reviews on this site that denigrated the breakfast. Don't pay any attention. The lovely spread consisted of at least 10 savory vegetable dishes (beans, tapenade, ratatouille, fresh tomatoes, figs, lentils, etc.) and just as many sweet confections (sweet pepper preserves, cucumber preserves, plum, tomato, on and on), everything grown and prepared on the farm. One does pay extra for the breakfast but at many hotels the included breakfast is a thawed frozen croissant, lousy coffee, and hunks of prepackaged cheese. No comparison. The location offers easy access to many locales worth visiting and ,yes, you must have a car. Late September is a perfect time to visit. Cloudless warm days and few crowds. One other note: we are a gay couple and were warmly welcomed here and throughout Provence. We will love coming back here in the future.

Room Tip: There is only 1 room as far as we could tell that had a terrace. We didn't ask for it specifica...

“When you dream of Provence, you dream of Mas de Figues”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

My husband and I recently stayed at Mas de Figues for 3 nights during our recent trip to Paris and Provence. It is very difficult to express in words and pictures what staying here is like. Having never been to Provence prior to this trip, I had certain dreams and expectations of what it would be like. Mas de Figues realized these dreams and expectations.

First, the location. St. Remy is a charming small town in Provence and Mas de Figues is located about 2 miles outside the center of town, making it peaceful and quiet yet very accessible to all the shops, restaurants and attractions. The property is exquisite! You drive through electronically controlled gates and on your way to the main house, you are treated to horses, cows, goats and sheep who gaze at you with intense curiosity. If that wasn't enough, the proprietors, Anne Marie and Phillipe are amazing gardeners. They have over 2000 roses! In addition there are other beautiful trees, bushes, perennials and annuals tastefully landscaped throughout the property. There is also a vegetable garden and of course fig trees the fruits of which are transformed into an amazing and eclectic array of dishes served each day at breakfast. Phillipe is an artist and you can see his creations all over the property.

Our room, Aubergine was exquisite with ample space, immaculately clean and decorated in typical Provencal furnishings. Louvre doors opened up to a private patio where you can sit and relax with a bottle of wine and enjoy the sights and smells of Provence.

Getting back to the breakfasts-just about all the food was made with ingredients from the farm and was a culinary masterpiece. Not your typical American breakfasts but innovative and delicious.

We had a wonderful time in St. Remy and are still dreaming of Mas de Figues! If your travel plans take you to Provence, I would highly recommend staying at Mas de Figues for a real taste of Provencal life.

Thank you Anne Marie and Phillipe for this incredible experience. We hope to return someday...... soon!

Room Tip: You can't go wrong with any of the rooms/suites

“quiet and lovely”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2011

Liked this small hotel a lot. In the country, but very short drive to St Remy and Les Baux. Rooms have tiled floors, bed was fine. Our bedroom was on the 2nd (top) floor with a view of the pool and gardens. There was a small foyer, adequate sized bathroom (w/ good shampoo, etc), and a small bedroom. Bed was comfortable. Only complaint, fairly minor, was that booking.com listing showed that there was an in room safe--there was, but only the metal box, no lock! Owners are very helpful. In fact, this was the only place in all of our European travels that when we asked for ice they gave us a whole ice bucket full (instead of a bowl with 5 cubes)!

Room Tip: Upstairs is nice. The room next to ours had a large covered balcony (the end room)

“Luxury in Provence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

This lovely B&B outside St Remy de Provence is accessible by a pair of gates and by the time we reached the car park, Phillippe, the owner was waiting for us. Before we checked in we were given an extensive tour of the gardens, and it was clear that Phillippe's passions are flowers and entertaining his guests.

Our room was clean, large and comfortable, complete with a separate door entry and a private patio which was perfect for a little early evening drink before heading out for dinner. The air conditioning unit was also very welcome as the weather was warm. As the weather was so good we ended up spending a whole day by the pool here, underneath one of the double lounger gazebos. The pool itself was cool, clean and quiet.

Our only complaint came with the breakfast which was extra expense and pretty ordinary - one cool croissant per person and nothing very special. I'd advise saving the money and heading into St Remy to one of the very lovely bakeries for breakfast instead.

All said, however, this was a lovely place to stay and we'll definitely be back for some rest and relaxation.
