The location of this hotel if fabulous. 1 minute walk opposite to the metro station and just 3 min walk to the main harbour and where everything is happening!
There are a few beaches, 2 man-made ones a metro ride away and a small natural beach within walking distance (15min). We went clubbing which is walking distance. Next to the hotel is a shop which sells everything, a bakery and a pharmacy. The hotel even has a safe in the room which is free to use.

Alot of people knock Marseille for its seedy like 'look' however when i arrived i didn't see it at all. Marseille offers alot of culture and lots to do. Don't be put off by the small cultured comments! Would definatley stay here again.

From the pictures I thought this would be a little bit luxurious, and I incorrectly thought it was right on the waterfront.
My first impression was 'seedy' but actually once we'd settled in and when I compare it to other hotels we stayed in along the coast during this holiday it was nice. It's old and in true French hotel form, has a terrible old cranky lift. The rroms are small and a decorated in a terrible dull green but it was a comfortable bed, good location (five mins from harbour) and had a nice breakfast included. The staff were lovely and although it was more of a motel feel, I'm happy to have stayed there. It's quite far from the train station if you're carrying heavy bags and taxi's take too long (so cost too much) in the traffic. Instead get the metro, it's just opposite and very cheap!

  • Liked — Staff & free internet downstairs!
  • Disliked — Decor!

This hotel is fine, there is nothing wrong with it. But after reading the reviews on this site I was expecting something more. We stayed on the fourth floor, the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. It was also quite non-descript.
The location is great, very close to the metro and the vieux-port.
I would stay at the hotel again as the price is very reasonable and I would have more realistic expectations!

My visit to Marseille started at Gare St. Charles. After having been told by a train station cabbie that taxis to the hotel would cost me EUR25, I opted to walk to the street and waited for close to 20min just to hire a taxi. I was lucky to have a taxi take me to this hotel for EUR11.50 considering that we had 2 oversized luggages and 4 passengers taking the taxi. We were welcomed by Sabrina, the receptionist on-duty. She was friendly and extremely helpful. The hotel is close to the Bus 60 stop which takes you to Notre Dame de La Garde which offers you beautiful views of Marseille, the Mediterranean Sea, and the Chateau d'If. Bus 60 takes you back to Vieux Port. The walk back to the hotel from Vieux Port takes a leisurely walk of about 15minutes. The windows are sound proofed. There's AC and a minibar. Flat screen LCD TVs. The bath could use some curtains though. Generally, the hotel experience was great.

This is a great hotel in a not-so-great city. My partner and I went to Marseille for two nights in March and found the city stinky and dirty and uneventful... but the hotel was our saving grace. The staff are genuinely friendly and helpful... VERY refreshing! And our room was very clean, comfy and quiet. Breakfast is 8 euro and looked good enough though we chose to have baguette sandwiches elsewhere. If you are staying in Marseille (for who knows why!) be sure to stay at this hotel. You won't be dissappointed!
