The only reason we flew in to Marseille was because it had the least expensive flight from Belgium into Southern France.
But, since we arrived, let me provide a quick description. Hotel was very close to the water, but from city center. Definitely need a bus after arriving at metro. A bit of a challenge to find it. Checked in, got into a really old beat up elevator. Room looked presentable. Little kitchenette, which was nice, but gross because kettle and cups were dirty, almost moldy. Air conditioner was blowing the whole time and wouldn't turn off; actually, none of the heat settings worked. This contributed to a nasty cold the next day. Our "bed" was actually two twin (or smaller) beds moved together, so there was a gap in the middle. Oh, and I'm glad my husband didn't tell me that night, because I would have freaked out, but there were bug(s?) in the pillowcase.
Keep in mind if you want to order breakfast it is very expensive. Much cheaper to buy coffee and a croissant elsewhere. Would advise to get food in city center.
Positive: wifi, friendly people at front desk.
