“Desperate need of a re-furb”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

Cheap. Small rooms, with towels and sheets having far too much polyester to be comfortable.

Rooms all needed a re-furb as it seemed a little tired, and grubby. Single beds are small, and the main "room" was a sofa bed.

A 2 minute walk to the beach, and lots of restaurants nearby. And pharmacies. No grocery shops though to buy fruit water within walking distance.

“Adagio Marseille”

Guess it depends what you want. This is an OK apart-hotel that is located close to a pretty good beach, but it is bit far from the city centre. It is in quite a nice neighbourhood though. We had a nice apartment with a great balcony overlooking the pool (which is a bit smaller than it looks in the photos). We had a car so the fact that it was a bit of a remote location was fine, but if you are looking to spend time in Vieux Port this is probably not the place to stay. We had a very pleasant stay and the staff were very helpful with good recommendations for restaurants that we wouldn't have experienced without their help

“Should have done more research”

The only reason we flew in to Marseille was because it had the least expensive flight from Belgium into Southern France.

But, since we arrived, let me provide a quick description. Hotel was very close to the water, but from city center. Definitely need a bus after arriving at metro. A bit of a challenge to find it. Checked in, got into a really old beat up elevator. Room looked presentable. Little kitchenette, which was nice, but gross because kettle and cups were dirty, almost moldy. Air conditioner was blowing the whole time and wouldn't turn off; actually, none of the heat settings worked. This contributed to a nasty cold the next day. Our "bed" was actually two twin (or smaller) beds moved together, so there was a gap in the middle. Oh, and I'm glad my husband didn't tell me that night, because I would have freaked out, but there were bug(s?) in the pillowcase.

Keep in mind if you want to order breakfast it is very expensive. Much cheaper to buy coffee and a croissant elsewhere. Would advise to get food in city center.

Positive: wifi, friendly people at front desk.

“Rooms rather small, pool way too small”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2011

This is a typical Adagio with appartments which are rather small in size. The bed (only double beds, no twins !!!) was on a higher floor, but the stairs was very narrow and rather steep. Not for sleepwalkers because the bedroom was open on the side of the appartment and only a rather flimsy wooden barrier was there to possibly hold you. Could do with some serious renovation.
Parking is inadequate and very narrow (somebody made some decent scratches on my doors.)

“Excellent Value”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 February 2011

Great value hotel in a quiet location, a few minutes walk to the beaches. Have stayed in the summer and in the winter. The bus stop (a few mins walking) can take you either directly to Vieux Port or Rond Pont and the metro.

The staff were always very friendly and helpful.

Main reason for staying here was the rooms have a kitchenette, which is well equiped. Having a laundry machine also made the stay even more comfortable.

Rooms are fairly standard. A higher floor room is nice for having a view from the small balcony, while taking breakfast or dinner.

Rooms on the side of the hotel with the pool can get quite warm in the summer (and over the pool a tad noisey).

There's wireless internet, which seemed to lose connection quite regularly for me.
