“Convenient location, although unsavoury neighbourhood”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

Room was clean and functional for four people with a useable kitchenette and separate toilet. Hairdryer and toaster were available on request, although there was no mention of them in the room so it was up to you to ask. Single beds were good, however the double sofa bed was not at all comfortable for two. Reception was also helpful, and Wifi in downstairs was very eays and fast.
While this hotel is very close to City Centre, Port and transport it is in a very unsafe area. We observed drug deals within 2 minutes of the front door of the hotel, witnessed a bag snatching at the Metro exit from our balcony and had a scary experience in entering the metro one evening at 8 pm! In the end we caught a taxi home from dinner at the Port, which was really only 10 minutes walk as we felt very unsafe.

“Good Hotel for the money with great location.”

Hotel was as represented via trip advisor. Rooms clean, nice having a kitchenette . The location is good for seeing the port and museum. Need to be careful at night but hotel is locked up after 20:00. Down fall of hotel is that the Internet works only in the lobby and they are using an old protacol so some US providers not supported.

“A cheap standard room with everything i needed in a great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 October 2009

When looking for a place to stay for my 3 night stay in Marseille, i wanted a place that was reasonably cheap, clean and within walking distance from a metro station as well as the port. This hotel met those conditions therefore i have no complaints. It's a 10 minute walk from St Charles bus/train station and about 5-10 to the port, as well as being 100m from a Metro station and the Arc de Triomphe. The location itself isn't glamerous, but unless you spend all day within 10m of the hotel, it's not going to matter!

The room itself is fairly spacious and clean. Kitchen had all the basics, including microwave, cutlery, cooking utensils, fridge/freezer and dishwasher. The sofabed was better than I had expected. I have a back injury myself and i'm quite fussy when it comes to beds. I managed to spend 3 nights on the sofabed without any backaches, which meant the sofabed was quite satisfactory to sleep on.

There's only one public computer next to reception for internet access, which can mean a slight wait... but they do offer wireless access if you have a wifi device to connect with.

In short, i would come back to stay here, but not if i wanted to impress anyone.

“Disgusting place...urine in lifts”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2009

I checked out earier than planned from this horrible place owing to the disgusting smell of urine in both lifts which was not sorted out after complaints being made, the staff at this place all have a 'we cant do anything' attitude (typical for this city, which is the dirtiest in Europe and has a Rat problem). Soiled carpets and smelll in the corridoors. Some reception staff are unhelpful and patronising.

“Practical and convenient”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2008

It was great to have a small kitchen as I was in Marseille for an extended period of time, and you get tired of restaurants every night that take 2 hours or more of your evening. The kitchenette setup was great. Even a dishwasher was included. The location is very convenient, a short 10 minute walk to the Port, next to a big shopping center, and very close to both subway lines.

There is a laundry on the premises which was very handy.

It is a bit run-down looking in places, for example my carpet appeared to be stained, Also the air conditioning wasn't working and it got quite hot and stuffy.

The neighborhood isn't that attractive; there is graffiti, and litter on the ground, but overall I was happy with the facilities and the location. It was a good value at 80 euros for a studio.

  • Liked — Nice staff, location, kitchen
  • Disliked — run-down appearance
