Good Hotel and good value for money...

we stayed for 2 nights in Sept and found the hotel to be quiet and stylish-the staff were helpful and unobtrusive and it wasnt far from the harbour or the shopping in Rue de Rome etc
It isnt in the greatest of areas but where is in Marseille and it wasnt far for us to get to Gare St Charles-overall it worked for us for a short break

We had the same experience. Also booked through venere.com, all the pictures of the hotel looked great there, but we probably stayed in the exact same room as cruisingjanet ,in the 4th floor, which was a bit disappointing, compared to the pictures we had seen. The street is very close to le canebière de Marseille, and not far from the vieux port, but it has prostitutes just some meters from the hotel door. The street is noisy, and we could also hear all the noises from the room next door. The hotel has a nice small garden in the back, and the owner is very nice.

We booked a standard room with veneer .com and it was standard From the pictures on the website it looks clean , fresh, colourful and lovely room. It was not at all like that. First impression of area, not too good, it is down a dirty looking side street(there are a lot of them in marseille) . Opposite there are a few 'LADIES OF THE NIGHT' outside their doors. Walking through the doors of the hotel, we wondered what we had come to. It was a bit dingy and nothing like the photos. We got our key and proceeded to our room , which was up 4 flights of winding stairs, with our suitcases(THE MAN DID CARRY ONE) . Once in tne room , we could not believe the plainness of it , very basic.It had tiny tv, no drawers to put anything in, no wardrobes just a place to hang clothes with no doors on, 2 side tables and a double bed. No tea making facilities and no hairdryer. The bathroom was ok. nice big shower area with hot water.The bedding was clean. We complained straight away, but were told no other rooms available. We said we would look for another hotel but could not find one, We stuck it out but were very dissappointed. The staff were lovely and helpful.
