“Amazing setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2007

We had fled to here after staying one night in the Mas du Loriot, just up the street, and much too provincial for us. We were so lucky there were rooms! It was lovely. First we stayed in an apartment one night, a hue room with a balcony lined with real grass and a tree growing out! The other nights were La Cigale, a bit smaller but charming. But the VIEW is phenomenal, the service was wonderful. and the FOOD! The restaurant was the most inventive, exciting meal we had the entire trip, and we ate at many Michelin-rated places. The staff was excellent. Overall, a wonderful place, just as top-notch in Provence as Villa Gallici in Aix.

“Peace and tranquility in the Luberon”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 June 2007

Le Mas des Herbes Blanche is situated approximately 1.5km from Joucas and 6km from Gordes on a hillside overlooking the Luberon valley. It is a quiet setting with no road noise to disturb.

The hotel has around 18 rooms. We had a midpriced room which was good enough. It was on the ground floor (actaully one level down from the main rooms) and claimed to overlook the garden but in reality the hedging for the very small patio area blocked any view. The bathroom had a bath only with separate toilet and bidet and double sinks. My main complaint about the room is that is was surprisingly dark. Lack of windows and poor lighting in the bathroom meant it felt a bit dull. And shaving was a challenge with poor lighting.

Great pool - a good size and I think heated.

Dinner was good but expensive. All very well served with great ceremony and some very tasty dishes. The weather meant we had to eat in the dining room (piped light classical music) but having an aperitif outside seemed a bit chaotic. One night we seemed to be forgotten and the second night it started to rain and although our drinks came in our amuse bouche did not.

Breakfast is a good buffet at a fixed price with plenty of fruit, youghurt, cheese, ham, sweet cakes, croissant etc. Eaten on the terrace in good weather.

Nice atmosphere with pleasant staff. Most spoke English. No problems with making recommendations and bookings for other restaurants.

“Nice, but overpriced”

We just returned from a trip to Provence and stayed at Le Mas Herbes Blanches with our two small children. The hotel is nice, but overpriced - they wanted €8- for a cappuccino! The common areas are lovely, but the rooms are dated for the price. The service is adequate, but nothing more. Since we had two small children, we did not eat in the restaurant, so I have no comment on that. I would not go out of my way to stay at this hotel.
