“Not a 4 star hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2008

The Domaine de l'Enclos is well situated in a very quiet and lovely setting. It is an easy walk into town from the hotel as well. The owners couldn't be more welcoming. All in all it is nice, but it could be SO much better. Let's say, it has the potential to be a 4 star hotel, but for the moment, I would give it 3 stars at the maximum. It is just too expensive for what it is. The grounds are terribly dry and need tending. Little things-- like the showers, aren't hooked well to the wall. Although the setting for the buffet breakfast is pleasant, the choice is really minimal (we've had more in 2 star hotels).

  • Liked — The quiet, lovely setting. Large rooms
  • Disliked — Grounds need a lot of work. Breakfast buffet minimal. Much too expensive for what you get.

“Wonderful stay in Provence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 July 2008

This hotel is wonderful. It is within walking distance to Gordes. It has a wonderful pool, and the rooms are all separate little cottages. The hosts are so helpful. We would go back.

“my stay in Gordes”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 January 2008

I was in Gordes for a while with my familly and stayed at the domaine enclos. What a paradise on paper, great property, nice view and garden. In fact this hotel is really a MESS, there is no service, the food is really bad, the manager is sometime not available (wen you pay 200 euros a night...) and this hotel is not anymore in relais & chateaux for teh reasons above.

I suggest to travellers to avoid this property until total renovation and new management.

I was there some 12 years ago, the food was really great and the lady in charge of the management was good enough.

Stayed October 2007

“Peaceful and relaxing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2007

We have just spent 3 nights at this hotel.
The room and bathroom were good and the pool was very well kept and clean. The gardens were burnt up and a bit unkempt but very peaceful with fantastic views.
The hotel is a short walk, 7 mins into Gordes where there are lots of good places to eat, which is good as the hotel no longer appears serve dinner.
Breakfast was Ok the usual French breakfast with not much thought or effort put into it.
eg we stayed in September when the whole of Provence is laden with ripe friut, but we were offered prunes or tinned peaches or apples.
A good place to stay as a peaceful base for exploring Provence.

“Good position - overpriced”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 July 2006

people found this review helpful

My wife and I stayed here for three nights in July. We found it a little over-priced at 140 euros per night. The room was adequate - bathroom quite good, but the air conditioning was very noisy and intermittent. The property is quaint, but the gardens are a bit unkempt - the pool was full of dead bugs - nobody appeared to clean it. The position is superb though and a few minutes walk takes you into Gordes - with a limited choice of restaurants - a shame because the price of dinner in the hotel was about 40 euros - without drinks.

  • Liked — Quaint appearance
  • Disliked — Noisy air conditioning
