After a disaster at a different hotel while we were in town for a friend's wedding, we were able to get a last minute room at Hotel Bahia. We went from mold and mildew elsewhere to a clean room with a balcony and a beach view. On the phone, the owners were lovely and kind and were able to get us a room for 139EUR, in line with other similar rooms in the area. They were able to also take us in early and the owner was kind enough to herself make sure the bathroom was lemony clean when we arrived! The best attributes of this hotel are its proximity to the beach, its proximity to the airport, the views from the balcony (if you have one) and the service of the staff.
The cons were that the rooms were a bit on the smaller side and slightly outdated. The shower could do with a remodel (i.e. old 1980s blue tiles). There were also all sorts of fees for things like towels, chairs, beach umbrellas and internet. To be fair, many beach hotels charge for these sorts of things. Even though the internet was cheap (3EUR for the entire stay), one of the servers (Bahia 2) did not work but other servers (Bahia 5 and Bahia 6) worked just fine. So although we couldn't get the internet in our room as promised, we were able to get it elsewhere -- and we did not ask to fix the problem as we were just so happy to be there. One other thing was that our friends that were also staying there at the same time had asked to use an iron for his shirt in advance of the wedding, but he had to actually pay the ironing service. Luckily, it was pretty cheap, but it did take a while when a quick 5 minutes with the iron might have been more efficient.
Overall, we were satisfied with Hotel Bahia and thought it was a respectable 3* hotel (it didn't deserve better and it didn't deserve worse) and were very pleased by the kindness and generosity of spirit displayed by the staff.
