My boyfriend took me to the south of France for a four-day break for my birthday, and I was lucky enough to stay at the Histoires de Bastide during that time.

The hotel is located a short, winding drive from the little medieval town of Tourettes-sur-Loup (definitely worth a wonder around, amazing views) and affords the most incredibly scenery. It only took us around 30 minutes to drive to and from Nice, and was well placed to explore the Riviera.

It is, without a doubt, the most ravishing property I have ever visited, just simple, chic, calm perfection. It really does look like the photos on the website.

We stayed in the Manon des Sources room on the ground floor, which opened to the verandah and olive groves, and was only a few steps to the pool. The very elegant Sandrine showed us around the property, and introduced us to the excitable dog. The first thing we noticed in our room was the sheer size - absolutely enormous - particularly the bathroom, which was bigger than the average hotel room. Everything was tiled in cool, Provencal terracotta, and the roof was all wooden beams, which ensured the room was constantly temperate.

(Unfortunately the one small problem was that the wooden roof meant that we could hear a lot of walking around in the room above us in the morning, and also the pipes 'sung' when they took a shower)

However, the love which Sandrine has put into the property is evident in all the little details. Beautiful robes, lovely white towels, Provencal toiletries. The pool is an oasis of calm, and there are plenty of places to lounge around with a book. You cannot possibly leave this place without being relaxed!!!

I must make particular mention of the fabulous breakfast, which was different every day...we had warm almond tarts, organic yoghurts, fruit, baguettes and home-made jam. Tea was served in Villeroy and Boch china.

Absolutely wonderful - don't even think of booking anywhere else!

We booked this bed and breakfast inn outside of Nice because we couldn't get anything in Nice during the Cannes Film Festival and the Monaco Grand Prix. I am so glad we found it. It was a beautiful end to a fantastic trip to France. This inn is a gem. Everything is first rate, from the decor, the renovation, the setting in the foothills of the French Alps, and the genuine hospitality of the couple who own it and share it so lovingly. The drive from Nice up the mountain is a bit of a challenge, but well worth it (20 min. from the Nice airport). It is close to the Riviera, the mountains, and quaint villages nearby. Everything about this inn reflects the care and thought put into it for the comfort of international travellers. I would love to return and hope to someday. I definitely recommend this inn to stay......I would have loved to spend a week there! It was comparable to a five star hotel.

Just back to the states after a 5 nights stay at this beautiful and truly luxurious B&B that we picked as our base to explore the area. We couldn't have made a better choice. The house is very tastefully decorated and the lady of the house pays great attention to all the details, from the bed linens to the Frette towels and Villeroy & Boch breakfast porcelain. We had a room downstairs that opened up to the lovely patio and a beautiful garden full with olive trees. Our room had a very large bathroom with separate shower and bathtub, and a nice sitting area "turkish bath"-style. The whole surrounding is very peaceful, quiet, a great place to relax. The hosts are very kind and helpful in recommending restaurants and places to visit, but without invading your privacy. Definetely a place to return to!

We found this beautiful guest house as we were looking for a romantic long weekend close enough to the coast to enjoy the pleasures of the Cote D'Azur, yet away from the crowds. We chose Tourette sur Loup over Saint Paul de Vence for that reason mainly. We also wanted a place that would be authentic and still offer "luxury" accommodation.

This guest house exceeded our expectations. Our room was beautifully decorated in soft colors and stunning materials, and we were impressed with the attention to detail given not only to the bedrooms but to the communal areas too, such as the breakfast terrace. and garden.
Our stay was made even more special by our hosts who combined privacy and hospitality perfectly.
They recommended a selection of local restaurants which offered a choice of gourmet and provencale cuisine. We ended up every day enjoying warm evenings overlooking the beautiful garden and swimming pool from our terrace.
A wonderful break and somewhere we are hoping to go back to soon.
