“No concept of hospitality”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 September 2009

Despite the mixed reviews, we decided to splurge and stay at this small hotel in the old part of St. Tropez. We had a lovely room at great expense, and, indeed, the hotel is located just a couple of blocks from the main activity on the harbor. A photo of Brigitte Bardot on the table in our room sits like a momento of a family member. The room and common space of this boutique hotel were fine. Our problems did not start until we returned from dinner and a walk around town about 11 pm. The hotel was hosting a wedding in the courtyard just outside our room. The band was extremely loud, but we figured that the music would stop by midnight. Wrong. By 1 am? Wrong. By 2 am? Wrong. The music went on until close to 3 am, and the pounding bass precluded getting any sleep. When we complained the next morning, we were told that they do not have many weddings at the hotel. As we were departing, annoyed, having spent over $500 to be in the middle of a wedding party, and having a sleepless night, another young couple also complained that the band was "in their room." We did not even get an apology. In all of my travels, am I travel quite a bit, I have never seen any hotel so indifferent to hospitality. Avoid this place. The previous comments about arrogance are right on!!

“TRULY ARROGANT AND TERRIBLE SERVICE”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 July 2009

Of all the luxury hotels I've stayed in all over the world, never did I receive such awful service and face arrogant staff (owner of the hotel).

My friend and I had a rather unfortunate experience during our stay. Besides the fact that they double booked our room and made us leave a few days before our confirmed check-out (first week of August peak season - not a good position to be in for finding another hotel) both of the chairs in our room broke upon using them.

My friend wasn't injured however the wooden leg split on my chair and as we were just back from the beach, the splintered stub of the leg injured my back severely. (we were young 20 something guys in beach shape, so don't know what was wrong w/ their chairs)

I won't go into full details about the inconvenience but lots of clothing was ruined b/c of the injury and the ability to even go to the beach...not to mention the pain.

Le Yaca refused to grant any sort of gesture of goodwill despite all of this. Not a free night or even a bottle of wine. The owner even had the audacity to excahnge a free room for us buying new Swedish design chairs at several thousand a piece.

As a traveler who stays at top hotels all over the world, I was appalled. We ended our stay at the Byblos which was amazing and provided the service one would expect.

I won't dispute most of the praise of others for this hotel, as there is a minimum standard that is provided for the prices. And if you have limited options I'm sure you'll have a nice stay. However, I think the rooms are quite small (although charming) but I think you should bear in mind the other wondeful options in St. Tropez and the type of people who you'll be dealing with if anything goes poorly during your stay.

“The best hotel in St Tropez?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2007

We know St Tropez and its hotels extremely well, so what would we recommend? Chateau Le Messardiere (very expensive, a mile or so out of town, but worth it for its stunning views and beautiful decor), the Sube (much, much cheaper and with fairly basic rooms but with St Tropez's best bar - perfect for your morning breakfast and evening drinks... and, if you book a room overlooking the port you're getting just about the best views of what St Tropez is all about).

And then there's Le Yaca... ambience personified. Situated in the centre of the old town and within strolling distance of the port and all those wonderful shops it is, as other reviews say, an oasis of absolute calm. There's not much to it... a large courtyard dominated by a beautiful swimming pool, a small inside bar, a reasonable sized inside restaurant, and, in summer, tables dotted around the pool and its multi-level patios... but it's got it just right.

The rooms are beautifully presented and, while very different, exude St Tropez chic - get one in the original building overlooking the courtyard and you won't be disappointed - and the prices are okay for St Tropez. But it's what it's difficult to explain that makes it just so good... everything feels right for that St Tropez "experience" and, because it does, you, like us, will probably end up going back there again and again. Perfect.

“One of the best hotels ever”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 May 2006

This is one of the best hotels that we have ever stayed in from every perspective. Rooms, food, service, quality are exemplary. All the staff are superb and are what we call ABCD people (as is the hotel) Above And Beyond the call of Duty without being fawning in any way. To have dinner or breakfast in the courtyard around the smimming pool is a true pleasure. We were right in the heart of the old town a few minutes stroll to the harbour. We cant wait to go back. Not cheap by any means but worth every euro and so much nicer than the flashy Byblos up the road. Despite the previous comments about Club 55 restaurant on the beach,we tried it and found the opposite to be true i.e. we had superb food served by bright, young charming staff in an unbelievable location.
