The hotel it's self isn't bad but not for this money. Room are small with rusted handrails behind the window and what left us more shocked were the plastic cups which we had to use to drink champagne on the first night of our stay. As well as they charge extra 5euro for the room service , expensive laundry etc...

The mattresses in this hotel are shot and the management knows it. Each morning you see the maids walking around with boards from room to room, trying to ameliorate guests who complain. The boards are of no use -- the mattresses are simply unusable. So while the hotel had a recent "renovation", they didn't seem to be willing to invest in sleepable mattresses. We checked out of our scheduled 4 night stay after 1 night, although mgt. originally wanted to charge us for the full reseervation (utlimately they did not). I would not recommend this hotel until they get new mattresses.

We had informed the hotel that we would be arriving late. As we walked into the reception area, we were greeted by name! Although the restaurant was about to close, when they were told we hadn't had a meal they remained open for us.
Our experience with the people on the desk was always heplful and friendly. And their English was very good.
The location was ideal. Steps to the beach, the restaurants and the town.
Although the room was basic, it was clean , comfortable and quiet.
The only negative, and this wasn't a big one, is that the nearby church bells start up at 7:30am.
There's no parking available at the hotel but a few minutes walk away is the Bonaparte Parking Garage..the most magnificent parking we've ever seen! It costs 8 Euros for a 24hour stay.

The Hotel Excelsior is a wonderful Hotel in a perfect location, just across the road from the beach and down the road (5 mins) from the train and bus station. Also close to lots of bars and restarunts but still quite at night.
The room we stayed in was quite small but clean and the bathroom was nice. Breakfast was your typical France affair with pastries and coffee etc... (no hot food).
I would recommend both St Raphael and this hotel to everyone.
