French food and service... in a very beautiful and inspiring place that oozes of charm and history well worth a visit

since 10 years we celebrate our anniversary in this famous hotel. we stay one night, have lunch and dinner on their magic terrace and enjoy the art. during this stay the staff give us the impression that we are their stars for 24 hours. lovely! when having a drink in the bar, piccaso is watching you, when playing jeux de boules next to the hotel you expect to see yves montand and simonne signoret walking by. a good advice: only book this hotel if you get into the history and if you love art! don't book if you expect the standards of "relais et château". this hotel has a soul: go, discover and enjoy!

This is a typical French hotel with all it's odities but we would go there again and again. Food was simple by French standards and the service was great both at the table and for the rooms. Breakfast served on the balcony was great followed by a swim in the pool. And dont foget the amazing painting and sculpture collection. Those who complain about this place are probably best to go to the Hilton or other chain, this is the ultimate boutique hotel.

A lovely hotel in a lovely setting but beware. We were allocated a suite in the annex to the hotel (without being told) which is a couple of mins walk away from the main hotel. The room was large but dark and the style more shabby than chic. It had a terrace but no view because the trees had been allowed to grow across it - all we could see was the waste pipe from the toilets going to the main sewer. It was not what I expected for over Euro 400 per night. The restaurant is expensive but the food lovely - service fantastic - and the setting on the terrace by the hotel is hard to beat. The breakfasts were also fantastic and a lovely swimming pool to sit round. Get the room right and it is lovely place to stay. One tip, don't go into Nice by taxi - Euro 100 from the hotel but use the bus for Euro 1!
