This hotel has a beautiful position looking over the St Tropez Bay. The reason behind such varied comments about the rooms is probably that depending which area you are in some rooms have not been renovated. We luckily were in the 400 area where carpets had been replaced by tiles, tv were flat screen and bathroom was in a good state end clean.(careful you don't slip) The view from the balcony is spectacular!
However this hotel is a let down to the 4star it claims for several reasons. Although it is equipped with a bar and restaurant these aren't open. The room service is very limited, and finishes at 21h30 so impossible to get a as much as a cup of tea after 21h30.(it was rough as had food poisoning and really would have appreciated room service or being able to pick something up in a bar.) The restaurant in the golf club is the only walkable possibility nearby.
Shuttles to town are so infrequent and finish at 18h30 so if you don't have your own vehicule I wouldn't recommend the hotel.
The pool bar and towel stand only starts opening at 10h. so you have to hang around waiting unless you arrive and go and get your towel during the limited opening hours.
Pool is great for families, but during school holidays I would avoid it if you are a couple or adults not into the noisy, splashy ambiance while you try to relax on your sun bed!Nearby beaches are great.
Reception personnel are friendly but the whole hotel has and old half closed feel about it as if running the bar area and other amenities would be too expensive so they just leave them closed. The reception hall is beautifull but then corridors with the old carpets are really grubby.
If you get a good deal and like driving and going out every night for meals using the hotel only for sleeping it is a good option. 20 euros for breakfast seems exaggerated when you can get a lovely fresh half baguette butter, of jams, juice and cappuccino on a café terrace for 5euros even in the pittoresque village of Ramatuelle.
