“Just about okay.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 September 2009

The Hotel is just a few minutes away from the promenade but is in built-up residential area and is surrounded by apartment blocks. The room was quite small and very basic, no drawer space just a couple of wardrobes and the bathroom, shower only was also very small. The balcony was quite large but overlooked the multi-storey car park, though you could see the hills in the distance. The hotel was however very clean and the staff were very friendly and were really helpful with suggestions for trips etc. The breakfast was again very basic and not worth 8 Euros. Entry to the swimming pool is through an adjacent apartment block but didn't look very clean or inviting. It is very reasonably priced though and would be ideal for a short stay.

“Not very good value. Acceptable if you have to.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2009

Service:
Pleasant and professional. We had an issue in that the first room we were given had not been cleaned. The receptionist was very apologetic, changed the room and gave us a free breakfast the following morning.

Room:
Clean but very basic. Balcony. Somewhat dated.

Bathroom:
Clean. We were given a disabled access room, which meant the bathroom was probably slightly larger and more open. No shower cubicle but a wet room without any sort of shower curtain. The drain from the shower did smell though, which was rather unpleasant.

Location:
Just a block back from being on the beach front. 5 mins walk to beach and promenade running along the beach.

Additional:
There is underground parking available at cost, but we managed to make use of the free parking just next to the hotel and in all of the streets around the hotel.
Free wifi but only in the reception and breakfast room, not in the bedrooms.
Breakfast was basic French continental breakfast, I probably would not have chosen to pay for it.
I would not particularly recommend this hotel to anyone. It is not completely offensive but there must be better places to stay for similar money (€70 for a double for dual occupancy).
I also want to recommend a really nice restaurant for pizzas and pasta about 10 mins walk from the hotel called "Massimo" (7, Avenue François de Monleon, 06190 Roquebrune Cap Martin, France‎ - 04 93 57 99 25‎). Excellent food and superb hospitality.

“Fair but very impersonal”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 September 2009

Nice hotel in many ways (clean, good location)
BUT - reception staff are unfriendly and a little abrupt. The Prestige rooms are nowhere near as big as they promote them to be on the website. The car park spaces are tiny!!! Seriously small and the car park itself is tight and you can see damage all over the place where people have msjudged their car size. They do negotiate on the cost though as most hotel guests just leave their cars on the road and they want more people to use the car park.

The actual location is good and there is a FANTASTIC beachside restaurant called the Cocody Sun - don't go to any of the others -they are not a patch on this one - excellent seafood, fresh and also not overpriced like so many of the other places.

The hotel is about a 20 min walk into the centre of Menton which is nice too. The area itself is nice and the beach is great - Le Corbusier walk is a must-do. Train station called Le Carnioles is about a 5 min walk - 2 stops into Monaco and only 3-4 euros for the train ticket.

Unfotrunately the whole are smells of dogs mess - why can't the French adopt the English way and fine people for leaving it around?! It reeks! especially when it is so hot and sunny. What a shame.

Also watch out for mosquitos - they are very fond of English blood and there are a lot of them around in the South of France!

“Good place for 2-3 days”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 August 2009

The hotel is a bit "unpersonal" but it is allright and approx. 300 meters from the bach.
I had a huge room and everything was clean and OK.

“Kind of Far”

I know that it says its only a couple of miles away from Monte Carlo but it really does take about 20 to 30 mins to drive there. The hotel is clean and the bathroom is large for European standards but if you're looking to be in Monte Carlo for the day then this hotel isn't for you. There is a train station nearby and its 2 stops into Monte Carlo but it just not worth going back and forth. You might as well spend a little more money and be closeby. The trains stop running at midnight and pick up again at 5am so that might be a problem for the people that want to party, have a late dinner or gamble in Monte Carlo. The taxi's will cost about 35 euros to get back to the hotel. If there is a hotel available in Monte Carlo for just a bit more my advice would be to take it.
