“Always Excellent: have been going since 1998”

I visit this restaurant a few times a year and have been going since 1998. The service and food is excellent and is not too expensive for what you get. The setting and views are exceptional. In 1999 I had a lunch here with extended family, 8 of us, and everyone loved it and have not forgotten it. I would not hesitate in recommending this restaurant. I have never stayed in the hotel part of Les Deux Freres, so I cannot comment on that.

“A perfect wedding at Les Deux Freres”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 January 2012

A belated review.
We held our wedding reception at Les Deux Freres in June last year. It was absolutely perfect. Willem was very helpful and commited to making our wedding wonderful with the help of our amazing wedding planner Kerry Bracken of Kerry Bracken Weddings. Our guests and us stayed at the hotel for 3 nights over the celebrations and we loved the quaint rooms and amazing views.
We ate at the restaurant a few times before the wedding and were not at all disappointed on the day.
We had our ceremony in a beautiful secret garden in the village followed by canapes and champagne in the garden also provided by Willem.
Too many great pictures to post but if your interested in holding your wedding there contact Willem or Kerry to ask for my contact details.
Thankyou again Willem for a perfect day.

“Beautiful view!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2011

Great spot near Monaco, Antibes and Cannes. We used this hotel as our base in the Cote D'Azur and really enjoyed our stay. The rooms are basic, simple, small and clean. The host, William, was very accommodating and pleasant. The rate was also fair considering the location. The only issue was the dinner we ate at their restaurant. It was very good and they cooked us a late meal but we never got a price or bill for anything. When we checked out it was 88 euros for 2 glasses of wine and 2 fish dishes ($122 USD)...whoa. Again the food was good but that seemed a bit high.

“Don't Go!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

The hotel is gorgeous, the owner is a thief. The ads and publicity clearly say breakfast is included, they serve you up and charge you double the price posted. The same for lunch. He insisted he did not serve wine by the glass, my husband ordered a bottle they filled our glasses and took the bottle away. The village is beautiful, the b&b is too, the owner and staff are not fair, honest nor kind. Staying there seemed to put them out and inconvenience them. What a terrible shame for a such a pretty place overlooking the sea. Hank the former owner who founded Roquebrune must be turning in his grave. What a sin! Do drive up to the look out point, it is free, but do not stay nor eat at Les Deux Freres! A sorry visitor who got burned badly.

“Beautiful situation but early lock up!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2011

We were very lucky being invited here to join a wonderful birthday lunch with good friends, the lunch cost being left to their generosity. We took advantage of the situation and made it into a mini break booking three nights in the hotel.
The location is absolutely fantastic. The hotel is in a medieval town on a hill with beautiful views over the coast and towards Monaco. Steps lead down to the sea front and shingle beach for the energetic!
The lunch itself was lovely and the service excellent. I have since read the other reviews as regards the overcharging but as we were guests I can not comment. I do agree at 9 euro pp the breakfast was steep though the coffee was excellent with a bottomless cup and the croissants and bread very fresh.
Our room (Nos 7) was small and tired. It certainly did not need the 'seaside theme' with blue and white stripes , shells on the wall, hanging lighthouses and oars as curtain rails...good grief! Our friends asked to change room as theirs was so small and another couple had a disturbed night due to a generator outside their room.
Oddly after breakfast the hotel seemed to shut rather quickly. We had a key so we could come and go but the place was left unmanned other than a cook/cleaner. What one does for a lunch time drink if it is not busy goodness knows. It seemed Willem would disappear off on his errands and leave the place and bar locked. The hotel is very relaxed. A guest after us arrived one evening and found his room key hanging outside on the locked front door. He never actually met Willem until the following day. Willem seems very keen to shut up shop as soon as he can after breakfast. Having said that we found Willem very pleasant. Apart from breakfast we did not eat or drink at the hotel (other than the birthday lunch). I found the previous review re sharp practice extremely disturbing but our limited use of the dining facilities means I can not comment.
Overall we would return, the situation is just too lovely to ignore, but what one does by way of using the bar, dining facilities during the day when the hotel is quiet goodness knows. (well I do know actually....just find somewhere else!)
