“Good Choice”

We stay in Prairies de la mer in Fare Cote Jardin. We didnt book with any travel agency, because some of them has terrible mobil homes. We Booked on riviere village sites and we has really nice cotage with brand new acomodation in best place in camp Imho. The sea was just one minute walking and its really clean but in lune quite cold. Beach is nice and location this camp is great, near to the city and when you have car you can make many trips to Nice,Monaco,Antibes, Saint tropez, Cannes, Verdon atd...
Food in the Camp is not so good and relativ expensive and nightlife is bad, so bars and restaurants in Port Grimaud is better choice.

“Fabulous holiday for all the family.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 July 2009

Stayed for one week in July, weather hot, hot, hot -last minute holiday and booked accommodation with Club Cantabrica. Having used their coach before opted for flying this time, got cheap Ryan Air to Toulon - lovely airport - and private taxi to Prairies de la mer. With transfer £80.00 per person return all in, well worth it.

Stayed in Diamond Lodge, booked it for myself and young son which would have been ideal but also took daughter and grandson (2 years) in the end and it was very 'tight' to say the lease, thankfully the weather was fab so could eat outside. BEWARE! book your bedding packs before you leave England otherwise it will cost you £80 for 4 sets when you get there. Could almost buy bedding and throw away after! Kicked up a fuss and paid half that direct with company in England. The Cantabrica site was nice and quiet but very run down, not much 'gardening' and general tidying up outside done here, very scruffy. Would not stay with them again at this site.

Camp siet itself very good and lots to do, entertainment excellent and facilities very good too, showers were particularly good, clean and hot, which was just as well as you couldn't swing a cat around in our bathroom!

Beach very good, go to left of inlet over the bridge as the sand is much better and even smooth underfoot near the sea. Sea not as warm as expected but lovely. The kids loved it.

All in all a very good holiday but very expensive, I will definately go back but will book direct with site or may use Suke Holidays as their vans looked to be the best. Cantabrica are ok and thier reps are lovely, but oh dear time to pack up I think - you definately get what you pay for with them which was ok for a short break but not for main holiday.

“Bit different for us, quite liked it!”

This was a bit of a last minute thing which we booked through a coach operator called Club Cantabrica.
Never having travelled by coach before we were a bit unsure of what to expect. The coach journey down to the French Riviera was as bad as we could have imagined I suppose. The coach was supposed to be a luxury long distance coach however we found it no different from any other "normal" coach we have been on. The seats were uncomfortable, you could only use the onboard toilet in "emergencies", there was no onboard stewardess service which had been advertised and to top it all the coach driver drove like a madman - to say it was a white knuckle ride was an understatement!! Having said that, the staff in the resort were great - it was just the coach journeys that let Club Cantabrica down. If I were to book a coach holiday again I would definitley travel with Siesta holidays - their coaches appear to be far superior and more suited to this sort of long distance travel.
Anyway, enough about the tour op. We stayed in a Diamond Lodge which was 16 metres square (really!!) it was like staying in a rubiks cube!! I have to say it was spotless though and for it's size, it packed in a lot more than you would get in your average apartment ie an oven, bbq, patio set etc. The lodge is advertised as for up to 2 adults and 2 small children - no way! There was just the 2 of us and we're not tall people and we struggled - lots of stubbed toes and bruises!
The resort of Las Prairies De La Mer itself is well thought out and spacious. Lots and lots of privately owned lodges and accomodation plus lots of other companies there like Keycamp and other European Tour ops. Of course there were lots of motor homes and campers there too. The whole affair was very civilsed and I have to say it was lovely and quiet there at night - no louts shouting or singing at 3am. There is a lovely bakery and an Italian Restaurant there with a few shops, a hairdressers, beauty salon, supermarket, reception. I think the site could do with some more restaurants though - two restaurants to cater for a whole campsite which literally holds thousands of people?? Not really ideal! There is a small purpose built town just outside the site called Port Grimaud which is modelled on Venice. It's very pretty and you can tell there's a lot of money around there! There's not a huge chouce of restaurants in Port Grimaud and all were quite pricey (in comparison to your average holiday resorts like somewhere in Greece or Spain). As the town is modelled on Venice, most of the restaurants are Itialian which is a bit odd seeing as most tourists have chosen to holiday in France and not Italy!! All the meals we had were of good quality.
The beach at Les Prairies De La Mer was much better than we had expected - it's fairly long but I imagine it gets packed in July and August as it was pretty busy whilst we were there. Beware the price of sunloungers on the beach - 20 euros per day for 2 loungers and a parasol!!!
Anyway, it's a lovely place and we were sad to come home - it grew on us as each day passed. Would definitly go there again however I wouldn't travel with Club Cantabrica - they appear to the budget option for coach holidays and this definitley showed on the coach.
Oh, and learn some French phrases too before you go, it's not like Spain/Greece/Turkey etc where most locals know some English.

“Big, busy site but a great one”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 September 2008

Have just come back from a very enjoyable 8 night stay at Les Prairies de la Mer. This is a huge site with 1400 plots and is therefore very busy. However, EVERYWHERE in the the Cote d'Azur is busy in August and I think you have to be prepared for that and just get on with it. The site is very close to the beach which is a real bonus. The beach isn't spotlessly clean, but more than adequate for for sandcastle building and general fun. it does get extremely busy but I refer you to my previous comment.
The supermarket on site is well stocked but pricey. Very handy for emergencies. The bakery is sensational however. For those with cars, get over to LeClercs hypermarket on the Toulon road and stock up.
Great laundry room on site for those like me with loads of mucky kids.
Tourist train to Grimaud is well worth an hour of anyone's time and has commentary in English.
Ferry to St. Tropez only takes 20 mins and St. Tropez is a great place to visit. Lovely market on a Saturday morning.
Port Grimaud is magical, especially at night. Craft market on a monday morning. Also, hire a little boat for half an hour and explore the canals - see how the other half live!
All in all, a great base from which to enjoy this beautiful area of france. And of course the weather is fantastic. Enjoy!

“fantastic campsite”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 August 2008

Had fantastic time at this campsite. Large campsite right on the beach no busy roads to cross. Booked direct with the campsite and went for the basic mini california, when we arrived we were quite shocked at just how smal the mobile home was but as we spent most of our day out and about, on the beach or on our verandah area it really wasnt too much of an issue (if booked again would def go for larger accom though)
Port Grimaud lovely and really cosmopoliton atmosphere in the eve. Ate in quite a lot but do try Monroes an english bar restaurant (come out of the gates turn right and carry on youwill see it on your right) really lovely food. IHappy hour half seven to half 8 so good to coincide meal with that. Top tip order drinks from bar and not with food order as you get charged full amount that way.
All in all brilliant hol, great campsite, good facilities will be returning in 2009
