I was on a business trip to Monaco for 2 days, but it is too ewxpensive to stay there during an event, so the Best Western Alba in Nice suited me just fine. 5 - 7 min walk from the airport exoress bus and train station. The train to Monaco is just about 15 min.
I have given this hotel ****, but it does not mean I rank it a a four-star hotel, but for a 3-star hotel, it is better than the average french hotels in this category.
The hotel was refurbished last year, and my only complaint was that the room had a non-interesting colour sceme. The very polite receptionist told me more revamping was underway.
Bathroom and room was larger than normal in Nice 3-star hotels. Flat screen tv with many HD channels.
I asked for a room towards the back of the house, with non interesting view, but they had rooms facing the main street only, where the tram runs. But the doubleglazing was almost soundproof. But if you like to keep the window open for letting fresh air in during your sleep, there is a tram every 5 min from I think about 5 in the morning.
The room was very clean, and the wardobe had a safe in it. Also kettle for making tea or coffee in the room. The minbar was stocked with soft drinks.
I had an early flight out of Nice, and the airport express bus that runs from the Gare SNCF, takes much longer than the other line which runs along the sea from the main bus station. It was in traffic all the way, I think we used 25 min, while the other line down by the sea usually just take about 10 min.
