Perfect for the budget traveler. The rooms are small but clean, the staff helpful, location excellent and the kitchenette useful for preparing picnics/meals/etc. Petit Louvre is not especially luxurious, but for the money, it is spot on. We emailed them for a double, for a week in July. They only had accommodation with a slightly smaller double- which was just 320 euros for a week- that's 200 pounds- which is about £15pppn for me and my partner- a bargain that really makes Nice accessible for the budget traveler- as it is a fairly expensive destination in other respects.
The hotel was refurbed in 2006 and is located just 5 mins from the station and just over 10 mins from the beach. The staff were always friendly and spoke English where our French let us down.
A slightly more critical review on here was right about one thing though- the rooms do feature the worlds smallest showers- part of a very cramped bathroom.
All in all, it is ideal for the budget traveler- small but cheap, very clean, with a useful fridge, hob and sink for cooking the odd dish.

Completely refurbed, clean, handy hotel; no sign of anything broken, missing, dirty or inattentive; delightful staff -- pays to speak French. BUT it has no phone system so any calls or wake-ups are out. No TV either and the rooms are microscopic but well priced... Staff on duty only at lunch time and evening....

The Petit Louvre used to be a good hotel. Unfortunately, after the long standing owners sold up, it has gone downhill.

It's never been the poshest of hotels, but when I stayed there in August 2006, we encountered the following problems -

Broken bed
Broken shelves
Dirty cutlery and crockery (including some mouldy wooden utensils)
Dirty fridge
Tiny room - only just enough room to put cases in
Grumpy reception staff

I've stopped here for years - I think I'll be looking for somewhere else this year!

Simple, family run hotel with great management.

This place is terrific for budget travelers who are looking for a quirky, offbeat, but clean and safe lodging while staying in a very exciting French city.

Breakfast is the traditional French croissant, confitures, baguette, etc.

If you want a really warm experience in a big city, stay in this hotel.
