“Budget hotel, but watch out for extra charges”

I was traveling solo and looking for a budget hotel that is clean and convient. Saw pictures of Petite Louvre showing a room with a microwave and cooktop. I booked a room through Venere.com thinking that I would get a room with a small kitchen. When I arrived at the hotel, the room that I was given was so small that I had to squeeze between the bed and wall to get to the window. The room did not have a kitchen, only a small bathroom with shower. I complained to the manager and was offered a larger room with a kitchen, similiar to the one in the picture and was told that I had to move to another room on the 4th night. I stayed at this hotel a total of 4 nights. The room with a kitchen cost me an extra 2 euro per/nt. The hotel also tried to charge me an extra 10 euros cleaning fee, and local tax. I accepted the room, but complained about the cleaning fee. (The room is only cleaned every 3rd day). The hotel agreed to waived the 10 euros cleaning fee. The bed was uncomfortable, thin mattress that folds out. You have to slide or fold the mattress to have room to walk to the window or pull out the table that is screwed to the wall. On the plus side, the room is fairly clean, bathroom remodeled, centrally located between the train station and beach. If you have to pay the cleaning fee, this is not a bargin. Also, the hotel can be noisy from the sound of garbage trucks.

Room Tip: Do not book a room through Venere.com. Booked 2 rooms through them on recent trip, problems with bo...

“Three words: An Absolute Disgrace!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 September 2011

i never write bad reviews but this one i cannot ignore. let me just start with 3 words. an absolute disgrace! tiny rooms that can JUST fit 2 suitcases but no room to walk. bathrooms smell. wifi cuts out all the time! the electronic key to our room always failed - luckily we came back before midnight when someone was there to fix it. otherwise we would be left with sleeping on the floor. the owner makes you pay for the cleaner, but at the end of your stay she checks to see how clean your room is. we left 2 dirty plates in the sink. we thought it wouldn't be a problem since we were paying for the cleaners. well - in fact she made us come back upstairs after checking out to wash what we left. after we had done that, the horrible woman double checked with her response: 'would you eat off this if you saw finger prints?! you dirty american girls!' (we washed as everyone else would, it's hard to leave something sparkling white with no dishwasher). this ended with her throwing a piece of cardboard at my face and then kicking us out. as we were leaving, she found what happened amusing and laughing to her friend on the phone in french, as well as bad mouthing us. what a great way to end the last day in Nice, France. i advise not to stay here. there's no point in paying for cleaners when you have to clean your own room. the boss is so rude. there is just nothing more to say. i am just disgusted. there's plenty other beautiful, relatively cheap places to stay.

“good for those on a budget”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 September 2011

Very small and I mean small! room but was well enough equiped for us to prepare dinner each evening. They clean every other day and after 4 days charge an extra €10 for cleaning. They also expect you to do your own dishes and take out your rubbish, this is not a big deal however they do not supply washingup liquid or dishbrushes. Its ok, pretty good location, very close to the train station and not far from the beach. We found the people in reception really nice and helpful. It was clean as well with a very good air con (thank goodness!!) I would recommend this hotel for anyone on a budget but not for those that are claustrophobic.

“Good luck for whoever of you out there who books at this hotel - worst service and rudest reception in all of Europe!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2011

Do not book at this 'hotel'.
Rude, dirty, tiny, terrible service! I have been traveling around Europe for three months and this is by far the worst accommodation I have booked yet. The room was barely big enough for two people and two pieces of luggage. You have to pay a cleaning tax and then are made to clean the dishes and take out the trash! Do not book here.. Unless you want to get sworn at for carrying your luggage down the stairs instead of using the lift (which is not big enough for a suitcase and a person) and have toilet paper rolls thrown at you by the lady at reception for not cleaning your room to perfection. Wish any of you luck who choose to stay here!

“Clean, small but good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 July 2011

The room is very small but clean. It has all you need, small kitchen, air condition and toilet (very small shower). Unfortunately, when we stayed there the wifi is not working but luckily there was a shopping mall which is only 5 mins walk away to get 30mins free wifi. Only 10mins walk to the beach, 8mins walk to the Gare de Nice train station, 5mins walk to the supermarket. 15 mins from the 99 bus. Good value for the price. Staff is very kinda, they allowed us to leave our luggages there after we checked out as our flight is in the evening so we don't have to walk around with our luggages.
