“not worth it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 July 2011

The location of this 'hotel' is pretty good, 10 to 15 min from the beach. The courtyard up front is also pretty charming...but that's about it. I suppose it's not really that expensive, but compared to the other places we stayed at during our trip not really worth it. The rooms are hot and there are no fans...with mosquitos. The room and bathroom are a little worn out and if you're here by car you have to pay extra to put your car in the courtyard. I'm pretty sure you can find a better place to spend the night for the price of 26euros per person in a 5 person room.

“Great value, great service, amazing stay!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 July 2011

I originally stayed here in May of 2010. I was only intending to stay 1 night but, ended up staying for a week. I returned June of 2011 and again stayed a week. The hotel is within walking distance to the beach and is very clean. The staff is extremely helpful and always takes the time to answer questions or make recommendations. There is a baggage room where you can store your bag if you check out in the morning and are leaving in the evening. I went to the beach for the day, after I had checked out, and was allowed to shower when I returned to pick up my baggage. The free wifi is available on the top floor and the staff will lock up valuables if you are uncomfortable leaving them in one of the dorm rooms. There is no kitchen access but, a refrigerator is provided for guest use. Breakfast, which is additional, is a good value, especially when you price what is provided with what you are able to purchase at any cafe in the vicinity.

I highly recommend this hotel!

“traveling around europe”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2011

Cute little place to stay right next to the train station. Nice courtyard/garden in the front. The inside looks like an old school hotel. Room was similar to that of a beach house. Staff was really nice and welcoming. They had a hostel dinner and invited everyone to join. No internet though. Sheets are provided.

“More hostel than hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2010

As a hostel this place has a few things going for it - but it's a very optimistic stretch of the imagination to call it a hotel. In fact, it's downright misleading.

To give it its dues, it has cheap dorm beds, friendly staff, and a sociable atmosphere. If you are a 19 year old with a guitar and a backpack - nothing wrong with that - you'll probably enjoy yourself.

If, however, you book a private room, you're likely to be disappointed. The bedrooms do vary (we saw one or two that were vastly better than our own) but they all seem to be decidedly shabby, airless, noisy, and worst of all dirty. Faded carpets and wonky furniture are one thing, but there's no excuse for dirty bathrooms, stinking towels, etc. I don't care how cheap it is - it costs next to nothing to do a proper cleaning job.

Nice gets hot and humid in summer, but the rooms don't have fans, let alone air-conditioning. As with any hostel with a gap-year clientelle, people are coming and going at all hours. The old house is charming but poorly maintained, with clattering doors, stairs, and creaky floorboards. Combine all of this and you will be lucky to get a decent night's sleep. We didn't.

A double room with parking and breakfast (which was not optional) cost 66 euros per night - cheap for sure, but you can get much, much better value accommodation elsewhere. Our budget was similar for four other hotels we stayed in across France and they were all significantly cleaner and quieter. Three had air conditioning.

The location is ok, but if (like many tourists) you intend to spend time in the old town be prepared for a 20+ minute walk to and from the hostel.

If you're InterRailing around Europe or on a stag or hen do this place may be spot on. But if you're a grown up couple looking for a relaxing weekender on the Med I'd steer well clear.

“Noisy and dirty - wouldn't recommend it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 July 2010

This hotel markets itself as both a hotel and hostel, but I would say the standard and atmosphere is very much that of a hostel. My partner and I stayed in a private room, which although inexpensive, didn't provide good value for money compared to other similarly priced hotels in which we stayed while on the trip.

The lack of air con is a real problem - even with the window open, it was stifling at night, and incredibly noise, mainly coming from the hotel itself. The bathroom wasn't very clean, especially the towels and everything smelled damp. It's an OK location, but it takes at least 20 minutes to walk to the old town, and the immediate area is pretty unpleasant.

We were told that breakfast was included in the rate - but the hotel's own signs at the front desk advertise breakfast as being optional and as we only had it one day, we felt that was a bit cheeky, as we would have rather not had it.

We really weren't expecting much as we knew the hotel was very cheap but we stayed in many places in the area in a similar price bracket and this was by far the worst. I really don't think it represents good value for money and we basically had 2 sleepless nights there, what with the noise, heat and lack of cleanliness.
