“Wonderful hotel and staff.”

We stayed her for three nights in early February. The hotel is a 20 minute bus journey from Nice airport along the #98 route. The trip costs four euro and is a great alternative to a taxi journey. The staff in Le Palais de la Mediterranee are a credit to the hotel. Every single one of them who we dealt with or even passed by was polite and helpful without being overbearing. Our room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. The bed was comfortable and the room opened on to a small terrace with a table and two chairs. It was too chilly to use this, but it was a great way of keeping cold drinks chilly as we didn't want to spend money on the automatic mini bar. The restaurant is small but has a good menu and delicious food. It's opposite from the cosy piano bar where you can have a pre or post dinner drink. The bar and restaurant both overlook the wonderful outdoor terrace which is spectacular. Due to the time of year it wasn't in use while we were there, but it's worth walking out to the front to peek over the edge and view the wonderful panorama in front of you. This really is a wonderful hotel which I couldn't fault on any level except for their wifi. Although it's free it seemed to drop quite frequently and wouldn't automatically log you back in. We had to log in each time. This wasn't too big a deal and people using laptops could avail of the cabled internet in the room anyway. The hotel is fabulous because of the staff that work there. They genuinely seem to enjoy their jobs and that rubs off on their customers. Great job guys and girls!

“Great hotel”

We chose this hotel because of the reviews. Good size room. Really helpful staff. Very clean. Great extras - inc. the best slippers ever. Bar stylish and cosy for a big hotel. We ate in the restaurant - food was just ok but everything else was good. But we are super fussy about food. We will certainly come back as it was very good value.

“Best in town, by far”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

We used to be regulars at Negresco, until the place started to fall apart and nobody seemed to care about. People say that Palais lacks personality, being like any corporate american hotel, with lots of conventions. I agree. But, except for that, everything works well here. The place is absolutely clean and well kept, service personel (front desk, concierge, waiting staff, housekeeping and chambermaids) is kind, corteous and efficient at all times. There are some complaints against the colunms that obstruct the sea view, but they are part of the original facade, a national landmark.
Altough being in a busy avenue, you won't hear a sound in the night, not to mention the eletric black-outs.
Ask for a room whose number ends 17 ("execytive sea view"). They are not suites, but are large enough, in the very center of the building, with fantastic views.
Weather permmiting, try a light lunch in your balcony. It is a must!

“Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

The staff of this hotel were very friendly and helpful and the hotel itself was very comfortable. The location is excellent - easy walking distance to train, shops and old town. Being right on the waterfront, it was perfect for an early morning walk. The hotel was nicely renovated but the casino looked like we had just stepped back into 1970 - it could certainly do with a spruce up. I guess it is not actually owned by the hotel group.
