I booked this hotel last minute on bookings.com, where I got a twin room for roughly €50 a night. If you come here not expecting a 5-star hotel, then the hotel is great value for money. The rooms are quite old, and cleanliness is average -- it generally seemed clean but the hotel felt slightly dirty because it was old i guess -- but that is sometimes the case with a lot of hotels and old establishments in France.

The reception staff are nice, though they do sometimes disappear from the reception desk, but you dont really need to keep going to the reception desk frequently so it wasnt a problem for me. I had booked a twin room with my friend, they gave us a double room at first but when I said I had booked a twin, they gave us a large 3-bed room suite instead at no extra cost.

A few minutes down the street is the Baie des Anges, and the bus stops to Cannes and Vence. There are a lot of cheap places to eat around the area if you are on a budget, including a delicious boulangerie where I had quiches everyday! It is a bit of a walk to the center, but I take the scenic route (walking down the promenade by the beach) so I didnt mind at all. I would stay here again.

having booked before reading reviews I was dreading going to this hotel with my two sisters. However it wasn't too bad, air conditioning whenever required clean beds and lots of nice white towels. Staff were all friendly and breakfast was adequate the lady at breakfast especially nice. a good location and we enjoyed the walk out to the restaurants. A couple of professional ladies standing at the side of hotel at night but not a problem. Hotel not of a high standard but for a few nights to enjoy the wonderful city of Nice fine

Locarno is not worth the money. The decor in our room was extremely shabby and outdated with a filthy stained greying carpet and shoddy old dirty finish in the bathroom. Couldn't believe we were paying upwards of 70 euro per night for the room, whch wouldnt pass the basic cleanliness standard of the cheapest budget hotel. Really disappointing. Staff on reception were pleasant but left reception unattended numerous times when I returned to the desk. Additionally (and I suspect this is a feature in nice) there were a group of street walkers working directly outside at night (not to be helped but made the place feel unsafe.
Would not recommend ever staying here
