We arrived Nice at night from a 13-hour flight and planning to go to Cannes, so this is a perfect hotel for a transit.

I stayed here with my wife for three nights in October 2011.

We walked to the hotel from the terminal 1 arrivals lounge at Nice airport (we arrived at terminal 2 but got the free shuttle bus to terminal 1 as advised by staff at the airport). The hotel is only around 5 minutes walking distance, which is great for when you first arrive!

We arrived early and were allowed to check in immediately. The hotel room was strange in a good way, with the most comfortable double bed I've ever slept in and an additional single bed in the room. The blinds were the most efficient I've ever known - once closed, the room was pitch black. There was a desk and free wifi, as well as a kitchenette, and a separate bathroom and toilet. The toilet was a little cramped and a bit like being on a boat. However, the bathroom was luxurious, clean and well stocked.

The location of the hotel was brilliant. There was a regular bus service to and from the city centre, as well as a train station about 2 minutes away which served the centre of Nice, Menton, Monte Carlo and Cannes. If you drive, there was also a car park. I can imagine that the aircraft taking off could put some people off, but the noise wasn’t unbearable and at night we could watch the planes taking off and it was spectacular.

We had breakfast each morning and it was pretty basic for French cuisine standards. The pastries were fine, the boiled egg maker took some getting used to and the rest was pre-packaged stuff so not really exciting.

However, and this is what made it great – for such a great location and accommodation, even allowing for the iffy breakfast, for £60 per night this hotel was a bargain and we will stay here again next time we’re in town

I stayed at Suite Novotel in late October, and it was just what I was hoping for. I was coming in from Marseille, so after arriving at Nice train station, I took the bus to the Nice airport, and then called the hotel to send the shuttle (or navette as it's called locally) to pick me up. All went very smoothly, I arrived at the hotel, you take the elevator to get to the reception area one floor up. My room was ready, and it was just what I wanted. I had a fairly early flight the next day, and I had been travelling for 2 weeks, so I really just wanted to sleep well and have modern accomodations. I used the small workout room, which had a few stairmasters, bikes, and a treadmill. I was starving so I ordered take away from the Italian restaurant behind the hotel, and watched a free movie in my room. I thought it was pretty cool their television allows users to select between like 36 movies, which were free. If I were vacationing in Nice for a week or so, this probably wouldn't be the smartest choice, in my opinion. However, for one night before my flight, it was perfect.

On our return to Nice from 5-15 September, 2011 we again stayed at the Suite Novotel Nice Aeroport Arenas. Hotel shuttle bus from airport to hotel and back to airport on leaving. On arrival at hotel we were allocated Room 806 which we had requested - top floor with terrace overlooking Pheonix Park, airport and sea . Large spacious room with everything you could wish for including air conditioning, fridge, microwave, kettle, safe (free), room dividing screen and TV with free movie channel and internet. Bathroom with bath, separate shower and sink. Also separate room with toilet/sink. Room kept very clean. Staff spoke English and very helpful. Outside pool and seating area. Buffet breakfast available. Free coffee and cake available at reception in the morning. Excellent hotel near airport but some distance from centre of Nice. Very nice walk along Promenade into town. Local buses 9, 10 and 23 from hotel into Nice and Port. 7 day pass E15 for buses and trams in Nice. 1 day pass E4. Can go as far as Villafrance with Nice bus pass. After 9 p.m. bus No. N4 from town back to hotel. When we arrived on 5 Sept. there was Gypsy encampment in closed down garage forecourt across the road from front of hotel. On the morning of 15 Sept the day we left hotel, the police and others removed all Gypsies, their tents, etc and cleared away the large area of rubbish they had dumped there. Weather very hot during our stay in Nice.
