“awful attitude and very damp room”

Arriving at the gate of the Sainte Valerie the hotel courtyard looked fine and we checked in to find our ground floor room stinking of damp and even the bedding feeling "wet" Of course we asked for another room but as it was Film Festival they were fully booked. We were paying €240 a night for the room only. I complained to about 5 different staff but their attitude was exactly the same "dont care/ wont do anything" The final straw was when I tried to open the mini bar and the fridge door fell off - I am well travelled and I really dont understand how this hotel got a 4 star rating its appalling. Luckily I only had to stay there 2 nites before moving on.

“Nice hotel, perfect location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 August 2009

We had a good stay at Sainte Valerie. Very charming location, nice room and friendly staff. We have been assigned a spacious and nice room, the view was not particularly exciting, but we had a discount for that (Anyway we had a small balcony plus another window in the room and another in the bathroom). Rooms had no numbers but flower names instead, our's was "Pensée" and was located in an early 20th century villa detached from the main building (But this wasn't a problem at all because all the buildings were enclosed in the same garden). About the room a small defect was about some furniture (In the bathroom and the balcony) that were made of forged iron purposely unpainted and left rusty (For a "vieille" touch), for that reason we occasionally had small orange spots on hotel's bathrobes due to old accidental contacts with rust.
If I want to find a negative thing this was about breakfast because of two details: 1)Not so varied. 2) Small white insects coming from the overwhelming plants of the garden (But you know, pic-nic effect).

“Great find in a great area!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 July 2009

We recently spent four nights at the Hotel Sainte Valerie. Very charming hotel in a great location, friendly staff, well appointed and clean rooms. B&B type feel with the amenities of a larger hotel. We would love to return some day.

“disappointed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 June 2009

The grounds are very attractive. The service was slow and at times unresponsive. It took over an hour to close a window that was constantly banging open and closed. The facilities while attractive were not always available. Repairs to the pool area and the spa was inoperative. Wifi was not available in the room despite claiming it was universally available.

“One of our favorites in France”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2009

My family and I spent five days at the Sainte Valerie in June 2008. It was our second stay there and we enjoyed it as much as our initial one. We love the feel of the place. Decorated in a Moroccan style with warm colors, it has a bright, cheery fell to it.

I requested the same suite as the first time, the Scheherazade, a large bedroom on the ground level that comprises a small, separate area with two twin beds that were perfect for our 7 and 4 year old daughters. The master bed is a Queen size and very comfortable (up to US standards - a rare treat in France). The bathroom has a quaint bathtub, a separate shower, two sinks, and is replenished with a fresh supply of a lovely bath gel everyday. The toilet is conveniently located off of the bathroom. My only criticism is that the poor lighting makes it difficult to read.

The suite overlooks the beautiful garden where the four of us enjoyed a delicious buffet breakfast served every morning under a canopy of giant mulberry trees. Our kids loved to be able to roam free (without disturbing the other guests, of course!) The staff is friendly. Most of them speak English.

The best feature of the hotel is its proximity to great entertainment for adults and young children alike. You can pretty much walk to a lot of places and have a good time.
Just a five minutes from the hotel is a beautiful little park with a playground. There is also a merry go-round (serviced regularly and kept spic and span) as well as a small bumper car track. The area, called "la Pinede", teems with restaurants for all budgets. (Most open late for lunch and dinner by US standards, but a couple of them have flexible times). The beach is within a ten minute walk. You can rent mattresses at some of the hotels and have a meal there as well. (Not cheap but worth the experience).

There is shopping aplenty. It seems like the entire coastline around Juan-les-Pins is devoted to shops (particularly clothes) and food!

Overall, I would greatly recommend this hotel, whether it is for a couple or for a family with children, based on its comfort and convenient location.
