This was my third stay at this hotel and although this time I got the worst room (on the ground floor, no balcony), I am still very satisfied and I will definitely go again.
I stayed here once before and it was pretty good, nice room, not too noisy and good enough to return. This time at check in they asked if I had been here before and I said yes and they proceeded to check me into what must be the worst room in the hotel. Right on a noisy street with motorscooters with loud exhausts zipping past the room every few minutes and well into the early hours of the morning. Next morning I called down for a different room and it took forever but finally a quieter room, still the damage has been done, I will never return to the Les Strelitzias. This morning at 7:45 it sounded like someone with a chainsaw in the park next to the hotel cutting down a tree for a half hour or so, nice one.....If I was the hotel manager I would have been right on it and had that shut down til a reasonable hour. There is a hotel here full of sleeping guests not to mention all the other residences surrounding the park.
First of all, the receptionists were great. Such a warm welcome, they were always helpful, I never experienced this before in Cannes and surroundings. The renovated rooms are excellent, wonderfully decorated and very clean. To summarize, from now on, I'll be staying at this wonderful hotel!
I totally agree with JandC206 from Seattle and had almost the exact same experience. It seems that some of your reviewers found this hotel clean and pleasant but they had one thing in common, they stayed in a room with a balcony in the front of the hotel. Maybe those are the rooms that have been renovated because my experience is identical with Jand C's. The hotel looked nice from the outside and the lobby is also nice. However, same thing. When we got off the elevator, we felt we were in a different world. It was musty and dark and old. The room was no better. Plaster chipped from the walls, the ceiling stained and the tile bathroom floors were disgusting. We also went down to ask for another room but none were available. We had a 3 night reservation but left after one night and also found a very nice place right across from the beach. This hotel is a good 5 block walk to the beach and just as far to the train.
Do NOT stay here! Walking from the train station we became more and more concerned about our choice of hotels. We had clearly chosen to stay on "the wrong side of the tracks". When we saw the outside of the hotel we felt encouraged since it looked new, clean and modern. The staff at check-in were friendly and helpful and the lobby area and restaurants looked nice. However, as soon as we got off the elevator on our floor we were greeted by the odor of mold and God knows what else. Our room was no better and there was actually a ring of black mold around the bathtub. The bedspreads were circa 1976 and had visible stains all over them. I pulled back one of them to find hairs on the pillow. To say the rooms need updating would be a serious understatement, and that was really the least of it. We didn't even want to take off our shoes and the floors had ceramic tile. Yeah, that bad. We returned to reception and asked if there were any other rooms available and they let us look at another room on the same floor. It was no better. Maybe they have renovated part of the hotel, and we were put in the old part, but I wouldn't suggest taking that chance. Since we were within the cancellation period we decided to pay the first night and find somewhere else to stay. It was worth the 120 Euro to get out of staying there. We walked towards the beach and found somewhere slightly more expensive, but it was well worth it to enjoy our 4 days in Juan-les-Pins.
