“A pocket of tranquillity”

My wife and I recently stayed in the L'Arena Hotel for 3 nights:

Reception/Check In

We arrived to a very warm welcome from the 2 receptionists. We had got 2 mountain bikes with us which although we had not asked for a place to keep them they were taken to the hotels secure bike store and deposited for the length of our stay. In addition we had a car full of camping equipment which was kept in the hotels secure parking (€12 per day). On the whole check in was smooth and the 2 receptionists could not have done more to welcome us and meet our needs.

Room

We booked a standard double, whilst it was quite a small room we did have everything we needed: Wireless, Wardrobe, Desk + Chair. Our bathroom was again quite small and only had a shower, but on the whole that was fine. The room was clean and tidy, with good air conditioning. The bed was comfortable and there was little outside noise.

Location

The hotel is located at the edge of the old town in Frejus, its around a 20 minute walk to the beach, there are a few shops in Frejus, but to be honest they never seemed to be open. There are a number of good restaurants, especially in the town square (where one night there was a very good local band.
There is a very pleasant garden and swimming pool which is one of the strong plus points for this hotel, there is road noise and occasional train noise, but is one of the most relaxing hotel gardens its been my pleasure to spend time in.

Restaurant

We had one evening meal and one breakfast in the hotel. The service was great and the food was excellent. Dining at the hotel cost a little more than one of the local restaurants, but the additional cost was worth it.

In summary, The Arena Hotel is a great little boutique hotel. The standard rooms are a little small, but the ambiance, attention to deal and the thoroughly helpful staff made our stay most pleasurable. I'd be happy to recommend this hotel to friends and family.

“Avoid, its truly not worth it.”

Having battled through a traffic jam we arrived late, only to be greeted by a frosty miserable receptionist (I know this sort of thing shouldnt matter, but when your spending your hard earned cash a smile and warm welcome is not much to ask for).

So the Hotel itself looks quite pretty, however our experience was of air conditioning not working, wifi not working, a tiny bath and no shower unless you held it above your own head.

The beds are like concrete slabs and even our seven year old daughter could not sleep. Three of us were awake virtually all night.

The restaurant is extremely pricey and the Town itself was very barren and dare I say very run down.

Seriously do yourself a favour and find another stopover hotel and Town.

“Great Hotel, nice swimming pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

Great hotel situated in the centre of town. Swimming pool really sheltered so you wouldn't know that you were in the middle of a city. Great location for visiting cote d'azure.

“Relaxing, beautiful site with great resturant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 June 2010

My mom, sister, and I choose this place after reading some great reviews, especially about their restaurant and we were not disappointed. The hotel is located in a wonderful town that has some shopping and an open market on Wed. and Sat. mornings. I suggest the candy shop just a few stores away. If you want to get to St. Raphael it's just a quick taxi ride and you can take a ferry over to St. Tropez for the day. Their garden and pool area are beautiful and relaxing. The restaurant is fantastic! Even if you decide not to stay in this hotel, visit the restaurant at some point. It's totally worth it and some of the best food we had in France. The other restaurants in the town are also very good and worth visiting. The staff was amazing and always remembered who we were. After only a few times of picking up our key at the front desk, they didn't even have to ask us what room number we were in. The restaurant staff was very accommodating and remembered our drink orders. The only downsides to this hotel were that the beds are very hard, so if you like a soft bed you won't be very comfortable and there is a cost for the wifi and it did not work very well while we were there. The staff did try to help me with this problem, but it required resting the router. In all, this was probably the best hotel that we stayed in during our entire trip and definitely worth the visit.

“A little gem in the south of France”

I stayed at Hotel L'Arena for 5 nights with my younger sister. We were very keen to have a few days away - just the two of us, where we would find sun and relaxation. We found Hotel L'Arena whilst browsing another website and booked it. When we arrived in Nice we rented a car and off we went in search for our hotel. The 5 days we spent there were beautiful. The hotel staff were incredibly friendly and allowed us to check into our room early. Nothing was every too much trouble for them and they looked after us very well. The rooms were very comfortable, very homey and very cosy. The fact they were slightly small added to the charm of the hotel.

The pool was an absolute GEM! It is in a walled garden with lots of colour and atmosphere. The pool beds were incredibly comfortable and whilst by the pool we felt like we were in our little paradise.

I would absolutely without a doubt recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a relaxing stay. If you want to visit other parts of the South of France then a car is a must. This is a little gem of a hotel and i can't wait to go back.
