This is a charming, little hotel located in the old town of Frejus, about a 30 minute walk away from the beach and marina. It's nicely decorated and furnished in a typical provencal style, has a lovely pool/garden area and the staff are very helpful. Our room had a garden view and was simply and tastefully decorated with a yellow theme.

We ate in the restaurant, which was set up outside due to the warm weather and the food was absolutely wonderful. I can highly recommend the beef followed by the berry tart. Breakfast, also served outside, was equally good with a continental buffet selection. If it's a quiet and relaxing time you're after, then this is an ideal place for a restful few days, or equally as a base for touring the riviera.

The town is an old Roman town and is typical of the area. Worth seeing are the remains of the old Roman viaduct. The church, town hall and market square form the centre of the town, which has several bars, restaurants and shops although it was very quiet over the weekend. There's a great patisserie on the high street and a good place for gifts is Les Celliers du Sud, located just beyond the hotel on the main road.

Tip: There's a direct bus service that operates several times a day to Frejus from Nice Airport. It takes about an hour and saves the hassle of getting the shuttle into Nice and catching a couple of trains if you don't have a car. It costs 15 Euros each way.

Finally, worth trying for authentic Italian pasta and tirimisu is a little restaurant in Port Frejus called Italia Street.

Having spent 3 nights in Nice in a very small Hotel, we arrived at Hotel Arena to be pleasantly surprised by what appeared to be "quality" judging by the exterior of this establishment.
We entered and were not disappointed. It is a beautiful hotel.
The staff were more then helpful and could not do enough for us. Rooms are small but are very clean and homely.
The swimming pool is a gem and the cushions on the deck chairs.....well you melt into them...they are so comfortable.
We liked the restaurant, we liked the menu but we did not eat there. The cheapest bottle of wine was 24 euros and we both felt that in France, the home of wine, it is a ridiculous price to pay. If you are arriving by train, very few stop in Frejus, you have a better chance of getting a train to San Raphael, which is only 5 minutes by taxi from Hotel arena...approx 12 euros........We highly recommend this hotel...tres tres bien.

Very well located in Fréjus, with free parking near by and only a few steps from the railway station. Staff very friendly, and helpful. Restuarant very good.

Rooms small, but I've been in smaller, but comfortable and well decorated. Maybe not a good choice for very big people ?

Only the muzak in the breakfast and restaurant rooms irritated me.

A delightful and cosy hotel in the center of town. Very friendly and efficient staff. Clean rooms. Very good value.
