The rooms are beautifully done and made for a wonderful place to stay. I had a memorable dinner - the 9 course tasting menu - and every course was utterly unforgettable. Service was immaculate and I was impressed with the way the chef produced excellent dishes for the two children in our party, both aged under 12. The breakfast the next morning was outstanding and eaten on a balcony with wonderfful views. Hard to think of anything to fault.

We stayed for two nights and had an excellent dinner with friends on the first night. Our room was a junior suite (no. 12, Saint Vallier), reached by walking up a last flight of stairs with a rather musty-smelling carpet. Junior suites are described as "Rooms with a living room and little terrace." The living room, although furnished with doll-sized furniture, is there, and so is the little terrace: but how disappointing to find that the terrace has no view whatsoever! When you are sitting (or even standing) in the terrace, you expect to look out over the olive trees and the beautiful landscape: yet, all you see is red roof tiles, as the terrace is hemmed in on four sides. No one wants to sit in a terrace like that. One additional note: if you are using the swimming pool, bring mosquito repellant. I sunbathed there for about 40 minutes in the morning, starting at 9 am, and I escaped with 5 very painful mosquito bites. Again, a pity, since the hotel is otherwise a fine one. But memories are made of little details, and these details will spoil it for me.

We stayed at the Bastide for 4 nights over Easter. Grasse is an ideal location to explore the Côte d' Azur, Monaco being roughly a 1 hour drive East and Saint-Tropez 1h 20min West. And the Bastide is a very nice property located in a very quiet zone, with magnificent view over the valley.
We had two double rooms, which were large (approx. 30 square meters) and comfortable (including also a coffee machine and possibility to make tea, which was much appreciated).
All staff has been extremely nice and helpful, with that "extra mile" which makes the difference (like organizing super-quick laundry service during Easter or serving a quick and testeful dinner from the in-room menu in the main restaurant after a late arrival on the first day).
Food in the gourmet restaurant was delightful - but be ready to pay for it...

We stopped here for lunch on a Wednesday afternoon, and were treated to a fabulous culinary event on the terrace overlooking the valley. The service was impeccable; the setting unparalled, and the food?? A wonderful, wonderful prix fixe luncheon that was reasonably priced for the high quality, flavors, textures, presentation....my son, who rarely eats (let alone enjoys) dessert, proclaimed his "the best" he had ever had. The food was on par with Daniel in NYC. Highly recommended!
