So, my wife and I having cumulated a couple of thousand hotel nights together across the globe over the years, we have just discovered the undisputable winner in the category hotels of torment that will wreck any vacation and suck every drop of pleasure out of your hotel experience.
After earlier having called to announce our late arrival, the owner/ogress "greeted" us by a barrage of insults that would not end. The exact nature of our "crime" remained unclear, although it had to do with the hour of arrival (11.30 pm) but she said that she demanded an apology ! We were completely stunned but I obviously refused to apologise. The verbal insults continued in front of our 10 year old daughter who was shocked.
Having paid for the room in advance and not with any reasonable chance of finding an alternative there and then, we really had no choice of accepting the room although I carefully had considered every possible way to get out of this cheap horror film.
The room (first floor) was entirely without charm, dirty walls, no soap in the bathroom, and the list goes on. Noise 24/24 in "3D"; the people staying above were Americans, with a NY accent, as we could hear their conversations as if they had been in our room, the voice of the ogress in the reception came up through the floor and in the street in front of the hotel there was motorbikes, scooters, trucks driving without end.
The following day, the ogress suggested that we shorten our stay from two to one night, to which I responded that nothing would please me more. My next question was if we then would be refunded for the second night, to which she responded "of course not". Etc. Etc.
This experience defies the laws of hotel physics. Sometimes, an unexpected and totally absurd experience can become comical and will make you just laugh about it all. Not here.
I suggest you recommend this hotel to your worst enemies.
